COUNCIL RECOGNITION

KNIGHTS OF THE MONTH

January 2025

Paul Shepherd

Working with nonstop enthusiasm our December Knight of the Month is Brother Paul Shepherd for organizing and participation in events throughout the month of December. This includes “Keep Christ in Christmas” Signage campaign, organizing a children’s Christmas Party, attending a Special Olympics event, his involvement with disaster relief and organizing kitchen staff for Bingo and our Fish Fries. But we all see Brother Paul’s activities throughout the year not only for every kitchen event, but so much more as he organizes Blood Drives, and coordinates with the Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce at the Sweet Corn Festival to provide valuable services and to organize a work schedules for Brother Knights throughout that weekend. Brother Paul has shared with us his leadership involvement in disaster relief as State Director of the Wisconsin KC Disaster Relief Team throughout southern Wisconsin. In 2024, he coordinated the opportunity to have the Silver Rose come to our Parish. He again has stepped‐up to be in a leadership role as Deputy Grand Knight. My request to Brother Knights is to support Brother Paul as he works diligently to achieve the Star Council Award. And my personal congratulations to Brother Paul for continuing to volunteer his time and efforts to our KC Council.

December 2024

Greg Garstka

Our Knight of the Month is Brother Greg Garstka. Whenever there are events that need the support and experience of someone who has done them before it is especially gratifying to have a Brother not hesitate to step up and offer to make it happen. This year, the Memorial Mass and Dinner brought some changes and challenges. Brother Greg worked with his many contacts and coordinated a very successful event for our guests. I am glad to hear from many of the guests that they appreciate the recognition and efforts put forth on their behalf. We should also recognize Brother Greg for his service as the Council Recorder. He provides each Council meeting with a detailed record of the minutes of the previous meeting. This is an invaluable service. A huge thank you to Brother Greg as our Knight of the Month.

September 2024

Paul Shepherd

It seems obvious to me that Brother Paul Shepherd put in a tremendous number of hours organizing and implementing the work crews for the Sweet Corn Festival. He starts his organization and time schedules in July for this event and then makes them happen. Thank you to all who respect his delegation of assignments. At many times Brother Paul is the man behind the scenes, but he also has a very visible presence as needed. We are well aware of his scheduling for kitchen help on Bingo Nights and his preparedness for our Lenten Fish Fries. He is a strong supporter of the Red Cross Blood Drives and coordinated dates, times, donor schedules and support workers. Though this recognition is for Knight of the Month, we all can appreciate the time and efforts he puts forth each month. A huge thank you to Brother Paul as our Knight of the Month.

August 2024

Nick Wenos

I appreciate it when I get recommendations for Knight of the Month, because so many things are accomplished internally and externally within our Council and may go unrecognized. It was brought to my attention that we now have seven TV monitors mounted and electronically functioning throughout The Round Table building which have enhanced the Bingo experience for the many visitors that enjoy our facility on Monday nights. I was informed that we have Brother Nick Wenos to thank for his time and skills and efficient accomplishment of the task. He also donated a newer laptop to be used for calculating the Bingo income and profit. And he has appeared to assist with Bingo operations on Monday evenings. A huge thank you to Brother Nick as our Knight of the Month.
