Sam Szalwinski In The Hospital - In Need of Prayers

Our ACTS brother, Sam Szalwinski, is in need of prayers. Bill Faucher sent out a message informing us that Sam is back in the hospital. He is at Brooke Army Medical Center. Sam's foot has been giving him concerns for the past couple of years and there is a serious risk of losing it.

Only one person a day is allowed in the hospital to visit Sam for a period of two hours. According to Bill, Bev has covered that job nicely.

What we can do for Sam is to lift him up in prayer as well as praying for Bev and the family. It is understood that Bev is very concerned and stressed about Sam's condition and she also ask for prayers to give her and Sam God's strength during this trying time.

You don't have to be a parishioner at St. Mark's for very long, to realize just how much Sam and Bev have impacted our parish. Their valuable and trustworthy leadership has blazed a sizable footprint. So please join me in asking Our Dear Lord to heal Sam of his serious leg ailment. We ask for continued blessings for this remarkable man and his loving wife. Amen!

2/9/21 Update: The Power of Prayer (For Geri )

For those of you who have responded, to my email, and are offering prayers for my Sister-in-law, Geri...Carlos and I thank you...and so does Geri. For those who are praying in silence, Geri says she feels your prayers, also. She has a long way to go, but Carlos and I are taking her to her very important Dialysis treatments, which are... drop her off for 3 hours, and got back to pick her up... 3 days per week. Today, the Home Health Teams returned, and made their assessments at her apartment. They, also let us know their findings. She is being referred to her PCP, and he is referring her to several other Specialists. She must be seen, ASAP, and they will come up with a program of specialized care for her. Enough said.

Velma Spruel Williams Requesting Prayers for Geri

The sister-in-law of our dear sister in Christ, Velma Spruel Williams, is in need of prayers. As many of you know, Velma tirelessly sends out prayer request for our entire community. However, today, she feels humbled by having to ask for prayers for her family. Let us raise Velma and her sister-in-law, Geri, in prayer. Please read Velma's message:

I am very humbled and appreciative that I can comfortably, share with you...my church family...that this last week has been filled with fear, for Carlos and myself, and life threatening for his Sister, Geri.
This time, I am asking YOU for your prayers...for my family. Someone I trust, and respect, encouraged me... that I should share our need for prayer with you, as you have with me. Therefore, I lean on you.

No...Thank God...it is NOT COVID-19 related.

As some of you are aware, Carlos’ sister has been in Kidney Failure for 6 years. So, I am going to open my very private heart, to share what has happened to her and our family, over the last week. I am not used to sending out prayer requests for myself, and I pray that you will forgive me...if over the last week, you have asked for prayers for yourself or loved ones. I regret that I was...uncharacteristically... unavailable to you.
However, my prayers are always with you.

So...Last Sunday, Jan. 31st.,Carlos’ sister became very, very ill. We went to her apartment to check on her...banged and banged on the door, but she could not let us in. We have a key, but she had a deadbolt keyless thumb lock...So, we could not get in. The office was closed, but they gave me permission to call the fire department to break into the apartment. They got there in record time. When we entered the apartment, she was sprawled in her bedroom chair and barely breathing. The EMS techs, worked to stabilize her, and rushed her off to the ER. They said that, had we not called them, she would have died within 30mins. We called her daughter, who lives in Houston, and she got here on Monday morning,.

The ER said her Potassium was at Critical Level, They kept her heart beating, and administered portable emergency Kidney Dialysis, there in the ER. As you may know, but, we did not...only one person is, now, allowed to be with their loved one, in the ER, and the family chose me. I watched them do things to save her life, that I pray...I never witness, again. I prayed for God's Mercy. They saved her, and admitted her to ICU. She remained hospitalized until released on this past Wednesday. However, she was not doing well, and we had to take her back to her regular place for, dialysis, and a family meeting, with their staff, on Thursday, and Friday.
As I write this, she is home and we are checking on her. Her daughter had to return to work, and her children, but is also, staying in touch.
Geri will receive professional, at home care services, for the next few weeks, along with 3 Kidney Dialysis treatments, per week, to which, we will take her, if she can not walk to her usual Via Trans pic-up station, at her apartment. She is very weak. Most likely...Carlos and I will have to begin taking her, as we did when she was first diagnosed. We thank God, for His Mercy, and for watching over, and allowing Carlos' Sister, to live...and we will gratefully take her to her treatments. .God is Good...Jesus, we trust in You.

So, for those of you who have attempted to contact me, or were concerned for my welfare...I want you to know that I am...Ok...and I thank you for caring. I will attempt to check my email, and do my best to offer my personal prayers for your loved ones, as soon as possible. I ask for your prayers, understanding and...patience. I will return, as soon as I can, to offering your prayer requests, to our Church Community, for all in need.
I promise.

Thank you, and God Bless,
