Sulphur Springs Council 8975 Smokes Thanksgiving Turkeys for Charity

Our Council, St George council 8975, Sulphur Springs, TX, has been smoking turkeys for a fund raiser for 6 years.  This is our most successful annual project.  We plan the smoke the Saturday before Thanksgiving so people can take the turkeys home and store in their refrigerator for quick warm up on Thanksgiving day.  We hear many do not make it that long and they get nibbled on before the day.  This is a great event to invite candidates to, since it is an all day event.  We have a good time and often one of the Knights will make his signature lunch.
As the word has gotten out a few of the local food pantries have asked us to smoke turkeys for their Thanksgiving meals.  Since our smoker can only accommodate about 30 birds we have dedicated the Saturday before our fund raiser smoke to smoke for our neighbors.
