Ultrasound Machine for 1st Way (February 2024)

In late February of 2024, McHenry Council #1288 received a
request from 1st Way Life Center/ Focus Women’s Center of
McHenry, IL., asking for assistance in procuring a new Ultra-
sound machine for use in pregnancy counseling efforts. 1st Way
asked for 20% of the $55,000 cost of the machine. The other
80% was donated by Focus on the Family.
The $11,000 (20%) requested was above what any one council
could contribute. So District Deputy SK Andrew Voloch of-
fered to work with other councils in McHenry county to help
with fundraising and meeting this request. Additionally, a re-
quest was made for the Supreme Council’s ultrasound initiative
to match what was raising by the councils.
In less than less (2) months, funds were raised successfully! 14
out of 16 councils in the McHenry county area contributed $500
each, this includes a chapter donation Including the Supreme
ultrasound grant, $13,100 was raised! Far exceeding the goal of
20% .
Through the grace of God and the help of the Holy Spirit, on
Monday April 15, 2024, Focus Women’s Center of McHenry,
IL. took delivery of their new Ultrasound unit, replacing an over
10-year-old unit. This new unit with greatly enhanced fetal de-
tail and contrast, will be used in their pregnancy counselling
efforts, to assist women in making an informed choice regarding
their decision about the birth of their unborn child.
Thanks to all of our Brother Knights for making this life saving
& transforming gift possible, as together we walked the talk for
life.

Ninth Bishop Of Rockford
Bishop David J. Malloy is the ninth Bishop of the Diocese of Rockford. On Tuesday March 20, 2012, Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, announced that Pope Benedict XVI had appointed Msgr. Malloy, 57, who was at the time, pastor of St. Francis De Sales Parish in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, the ninth bishop of the Diocese of Rockford in Illinois to succeed the retiring Bishop Thomas Doran. On May 14, 2012, he was ordained and installed as the Bishop of Rockford.
