Worthy District Deputies, Grand Knights and Faithful Navigators,

The next Fourth Degree Exemplification scheduled for January 13, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Sun City West. Former District Deputy and current Faithful Navigator, Sir Knight Joseph Shanks, an Air Force Veteran, is excited to be the Class Honoree.  Let us kick off the new calendar year by recruiting new Fourth Degree Knights and attend this Patriotic Exemplification.

The Fourth Degree is the most visible arm of the Knights of Columbus and represents the last principle of the order: Patriotism. This includes promoting responsible citizenship along with love and devotion to their country.  Members of the Fourth Degree are asked to participate and serve in the Honor Guards, which also serve at civic and religious functions. 

All Third-Degree members are highly encouraged to further their membership into the Fourth Degree.  Members who wear the emblem of the Fourth Degree are committed to conduct themselves honorably as Catholic gentlemen in both their private and public life.  The Fourth Degree sword represents the Sir Knights reverence for the Eucharist, the Pope, Bishops, and the Hierarchy of the church. It also displays publicly his willingness to protect the Church and Priests. 

The host assembly is Msgr. Irvin F. Lampe, Assembly 1673 led by FN Joseph Shanks, Former District Deputy.  The assembly has a guest speaker for the Ladies during the Exemplification, again at no cost.  The dinner menu will once again include prime rib, chicken with apple pie for dessert.   Let us make this Exemplification a Grand Event honoring Sir Knight, Joe Shanks, class Honoree and the current Faithful Navigator.  Sir Knight Shanks is a dedicated Brother Knight who has accepted multiple leadership roles. When interviewed, his comment was, “I just love being a Brother Knight and giving back to the church through the Knights of Columbus!”

We will also have a program book available. We are asking that councils, assemblies, and local business consider advertising in the program. Show your support for the brother knights who will be attaining the highest rank in our Order as Sir Knights. The form is available at: cognitoforms.com/State....  

At this time when our way of life is being challenged both locally and globally, we ask that all men rise up to answer the call.  Become a Fourth Degree member and show that we will publicly defend both our civil rights and religious responsibilities.
