Don Delahaye
David Lewis
We all know Dave Lewis as one of our past Grand Knights, but did you know that he has held a few other positions in the Knights of Columbus. He is a former District Deputy and past Chapter Treasurer, as well as past Grand Knight of Council 12385. Dave was the State Convention Treasurer for the last two conventions held in Houston and currently serves as the Youth Coordinator for Clergy Appreciation Night. Dave is
a regular usher at Prince of Peace, generally at the 7:30 am Mass.
Andrew Lewis
Andrew is a relatively new Knight who has stepped right into our fraternal activities. Andrew assisted me as coordinator for the Family Fun Day last June, even having to split his time between there and the swim team meets.
Andrew is active in the ACTS retreat ministry, serving as co-director at the most recent retreat. He is also active in scouting currently serving double duty as cub scout pack committee chair and den leader.
Andrew and his wife Chaillie have 3 young children with one more on the way. Andrew is a fine example of the spiritual leader of a strong Catholic family
Mike Brzezniak
When you join us for dinner at a Fraternal Members meeting chances are you are eating Mike Brzezniak’s cooking. Not only is Mike preparing the majority of our Fraternal meals, but he is creating new and innovative recipes that utilize our event leftovers. When Mike is in town, he can be counted on to show up and help out, particularly when his culinary skills are required. Thank you Mike for all that you do for Council 8482.
Isidor Padilla
He cooks, he cleans up, he shows up – since joining Council 8482 in June of 2020 at the height of the Covid pandemic, Isidor rapidly become a mainstay for our events, particularly when the events involved cooking. Isidor is a great team player and is willing to fill a hole where needed. Like providing dinner for
the Officers Installation on very short notice. Thanks Isidor.
Isidor is full of ideas on how we can make the best use of the new food
trailer. Oh, Isidor also smokes a mean chicken, as we discovered at the
Ordination reception last month.
Isidor is also an invaluable member of the Home association and currently serves on their board.
Congratulations Isidor on being the Knight of the Month for June.
Steve Kuxhausen
Steve helped with fish fry's, installing the outdoor Stations of the Cross, Bingo night, First Friday Meals. The list of events Steve has volunteered to help go on and on. Our Council would not be able to hold these events if it weren’t for the time and service given by Steve and others like him. For all he has
done for our Council we have chosen to honor him as Knight of the Month for May.
Garry Modrell
Mike Velez
Mike is one of those guys that continually “flies under the radar” so to speak. He never asks for recognition for the things he does, but he always seems to be around when something needs to be done.
Anytime we have an event he is there working, whether it be preparing food or helping to clean up. For all that he does for our Council and our members, Mike was chosen to be honored as Knight of the Month for March.
Ed Carney
Brian Gray
Brian Gray
Chris Trotter
Chris is a recent addition to our Council having transferred in from his previous Council. Chris has been active in many ways since joining us. He has volunteered at First Friday meals, provided food for and served at the Keenager’s Thanksgiving lunch and recently was part of the work detail that repaired the fence at Prince of Peace. For all his contributions Chris was chosen as Knight of the Month for November.
Tony Pickett
Coats for Kids, Trunk or Treat, First Family Drive Thru Meals. These are just a few of the things Tony Pickett has been responsible for and done a superb job. If it’s happening at Prince of Peace, then Tony is involved. He also volunteers in Prince of Peace’s Pastoral Ministry and at the Mercy Center. For all his contributions to our Council and parish we have chosen to honor him as our Knight of the Month for October.
Dave Kreiner
Dave has been a Knight of Columbus since 1975. He is currently an Officer
in our Council serving in the role of Outside Guard. Recently Dave was very instrumental in the development of the Council Survey that was sent to many of you and presented at the Knight’s Night Out gathering. His expertise in analyzing the data has been an aid to developing a vision of the future of our Council. For all his hard work and dedication Dave was chosen to be honored as Knight
of the Month for September.
John Adams
John has been a brother Knight for as long as I can remember and that goes back some 20 years. He has served our Council in many ways, most notably as the Treasurer of the Home Association for 15 years, only recently leaving that position. For his dedication and service to our Council John has been selected to be honored as Knight of the Month for August.
Joey Camp
Joey is the newest 4th Degree Knight from our Council. He is a regular at our Officer Planning Meetings and member meetings, serving as the Inside Guard. Joey has also served as an usher at the 9:00 Mass on Sunday. For his service to our parish and our Council he was chosen as the Knight of the Month
for July.
Jerry Novosad
If you have not met Jerry, the next time you are at one of our meetings or events and you see him, take some time to introduce yourself and get to know him. Since transferring to our Council from Reston, Virginia, he has been one of our most active Knights. He is always there to lend a hand wherever he is needed. Jerry has most recently been named our Council’s “Emergency Response Coordinator”, a position he is well suited for. In the past, Jerry worked for Kenyon International Emergency Services, a world leader in disaster management and recovery services where he was an integral part of their on-site global response team. A good man to know for many reasons. For his continuous contributions to our Council, we would like to honor
Jerry as our Knight of the Month.
Bill Vacek
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Bill for quite some time, not just as a Brother Knight and Prince of Peace parishioner, but as a former coaching colleague. Bill is a member of the Home Association and also serves as an usher at the 7:30 am Mass. He was an integral part of our Fish Fry team, wearing many hats from fry cook to order runner to food server. For his continued service to our Council and parish, we have chosen to honor Bill as the Knight of the Month for May.
Jim Vossler
Jim is a long time member of Prince of Peace and Council 8482. He serves as an acolyte, EMHC, and is Past Grand Knight of our Council. He currently serves as our Faith Programs Director. Jim was also the “man behind the scene” at our fish frys and helps with preparing and serving the meals for our members meetings. For his contributions to our Council and parish we are honoring him as Knight of the Month.
Isador Padilla
Isidor is a recent transfer to our Council and he has “hit the ground running” so to speak. He has volunteered to cook for Council activities and was a fixture at the Friday night fish fry's. Isidor also serves as a member of the Home Association. For his contributions to our Council, we would like to honor Isidor as Knight of the Month.
Eugene "Smitty" Schmidt
Ed Benedix
Ed has served our Council as Financial Secretary and Past Grand Knight. He is presently heading up our Retention Committee and doing an excellent job of bringing our membership roles up to date. Ed is our Council Degree Team Captain and also serves as an acolyte at Prince of Peace. He is very active in our parish activities as well as the ACTS Retreat. Thank you for all your hard work now and in the past.
Bill Higgins
Bill has been a Brother Knight for 25 years, the last five as a
member of our Council. He is very active, helping with fish
fries and tamale sales.
Bill is also active in the ACTS community having served as a
team member for the retreats held in 2018 and 2019. He is
also active in the Prince of Peace Prison Ministry serving on
the Kolbe Retreat team in the fall of 2019. Bill is a member of
the Militia of the Immaculata, a worldwide evangelization
movement founded by St. Maximillian Kolbe.
Congratulations, Bill on being recognized as Knight of the
Month for November.
Ed Carney
Ed has been a very active member of our Council since 2019 and a member of Prince of Peace since 1980. He is part of one of the grass cutting teams at Prince of Peace and is always one of the first to volunteer his services to help at the Mercy Center or anywhere else help is needed around the parish. Ed also is currently serving as the Treasurer of the Msgr. Dan Scheel Home Association. Congratulations Ed on being honored as the Knight of the Month.

Henry (Hank) Walker
Hank Walker only joined our Council and the Knights of Columbus in August 2018 but immediately participated in meetings and helped at our functions. Hank attended the first available major degree after his initiation to become a 3rd degree Knight. When Jim McBane asked him to help with the Christmas Advent Fellowship Sunday for vocations, he agreed. This is a major event that our Council would be doing for the first time. Little did Hank know that Jim would be away during part of this event and would need Hank to manage the Advent Fellowship Sonday for both Saturday evening Masses and the Masses Sunday morning. Hank accepted the challenge, worked with the team he and Jim developed, and made sure these Masses were covered. He worked all the Masses, except for a short trip home, to take care of the pets (his goats). Even after Jim McBane arrived, Hank continued to work through the last Mass. Thank you Hank for all your hard work and everything else you have done for the Council since you joined. Congratulations Hank.

SK D. Dennis Majeski
Brother Dennis transferred to our Council in June of this year and immediately began working to help us become a better council. He took on the difficult, demanding, often thankless, and extremely important job of Membership Director. He quickly reviewed the membership status with Supreme and initiated the process to get everything current. He then took on the task of arranging the August 1st degree for candidates already approved, contacted candidates recruited, and recruited candidates. He marshalled through the approval process transfers and new brothers. He went 100 miles an hour at the August 1st Degree getting candidates checked in, payments received, and moving the process forward. He is in constant communication with the Worthy FS Larry, DGK Merv and your GK on issues of membership. Yet he does not consider himself finished as he presents new ideas and keeps your GK honest on the membership process. He has not focused only on membership but encouraged the council to sell Advent and Easter magnets to help raise funds. He encouraged us to step up or honoring of Brother Knights who passed away. Thank you Dennis for your commitment to the Knights of Columbus and your hard work for our council.
Bill Vacek
September 2018 Knight of the Month
Brother Bill is one of the first brother Knights to step forward when help is needed. On most hall work weekend you can find him out edging along the fence line and around the hall building. Then he cleans up all the areas he works. He has worked on our gutters so that they will no longer cause water to leak into the building. Bill is a member of the Home Association and actively participates there. Bill is an Usher at the 7:30 am Sunday mass and when he is scheduled he is there to serve. When someone is needed to help on Sunday all one needs to do is ask. Thank you Bill for your service.

Deacon Bill and Theresa Barnes
Dcn. Bill has a long history with the Knights of Columbus including being Grand Knight. He was also very active in leadership with the
Boy Scouts of America and of course our own ACTS retreat community. A few years ago, Dcn. Bill left the oil & gas world to begin full
time ministry here at Prince of Peace as head of the Worship Depart-
ment. More recently, just to make sure he had no spare time, he accepted the additional role of leading the Pastoral Care Department. Dcn. Bill also serves as the Knights of Columbus Ministry Liaison.
Theresa has a long history of working with the ACTS retreat community along with various Bible study groups. Currently, Theresa works parishioners seeking annulments and the WITS retreat community. During the day she keeps the finances straight at Frassati High School as their bookkeeper.
Bill & Kathy Rosenbaum
Bill & Kathy Rosenbaum are fixtures around Prince of Peace. They are involved in many ministries, frequently providing leadership. Bill is currently serving his 8th year on the Prince of Peace Pastoral Council, 6 of those years he was the Chairperson. Bill is active in ACTS twice serving as co-director. Bill also playing in, and leads, the B sharps providing music for the ACTS retreats. Bill along with Anne Locke lead the Prince of Peace Cancer Prayer Warriors.
Bill & Kathy chaired the Mercy Ministry Gala committee for two years
and are still active on the Gala committee. They are both EMHC’s serving regularly at the 11am Mass.
Kathy is active in the Prince of Peace retreat ministries both ACTS and
WITS. She has served as a Prince of Peace Wedding Coordinator for
26 years and leads a long-standing Bible study.
Tony & Janice Pickett
Tony just recently became our Activities Director moving up from his previous position of Community Director. His organization skills are obvious in the team he has recruited for the activity director positions. Tony is
also our communications coordinator making sure our activities are properly publicized at Prince of Peace. All of his time is not focused on the Knights as he is a Pastoral Care Volunteer manning the Pastoral
Care Desk. Tony and Jan were the 2019 Mercy Ministry Gala Chairs, what a job and what a success! Tony and Jan are both EMHC’s and Jan has both attended and worked with ACTS and Wits retreat ministries. Of course, Jan also acts as our go to legal expert.
Bob & Jane Chaya
Bob retired from teaching and coaching and stepped up to being Council 8482’s Grand Knight. At the end of June Bob graduated to the position of Past Grand Knight after accomplished so much during his time as Grand Knight.
Bob dramatically increased our visibility at POP by moving our Monthly Fraternal meeting to the Prince of Peace Community Center. He also established new events and traditions such as First Friday Meals, Drive Through Fish Fry, and Family fun Day just to name a few. Bob’s leadership has helped make all of us better Knights plus he motivated us to successfully earn Star Council.
Those are just the highlights, Bob was involved in and worked at almost every event we held. In his spare time he ushers at 5:00 pm Mass and is on a mowing team. Bob is not planning to rest on his laurels, he is stepping up to be the Faith Director and continuing to lead the First Friday meals.
Jane serves as Sacristan and EMHC at the 9:00 Mass. She is an ACTS
sister and has teamed on several retreats. The last several years she has served as a team member for the Women in the Spirit Retreat that takes place in February. She is a member of the Catholic Grandparents Society, The Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Serra Club. Of course she does this while working full time. Bob tells me she has been blessed to have been married to her trophy husband, for 26 years. Oh, she also serves as the brains of the team.
Congratulations to our Family of the Month for June, Bob and Jane
Chaya.
Steve, Norah and Hunter Beckholt
Steve has faithfully served our Council as Membership Director and Chancellor for the past two years. He and his son Hunter (hopefully a future Knight) worked tirelessly at our fish fry's and other events. Steve has done a great job increasing our membership. Steve and his wife, Norah, are also very involved in the men’s and women’s ACTS retreats. For all he and his family have done for our Council we have chosen to
honor them as Family of the Month for May.
Jim and Lori Short
Jim and Helen Martinez
Catholic Grandparents Association, Family Retreat, Children’s Liturgy, Stations of the Cross for Kids, and Lecturer, these are just a few of the things Jim and Helen are involved in at Prince of Peace and in our Council. Both Jim and Helen are great role models for
adults and kids as they live out their faith daily. For all they do for our parish and Council Jim and Helen have been chosen as Family of the Month for March.
Jim and Mary Vossler
Hugh and Theresa McCrea
Hugh and Theresa McCrea
Ted & Margeaux Gorman
Ted is also a recent addition to our Council. He too has been active in our First Friday meals. His wife Margeaux is no stranger to the parish. She was very instrumental in organizing a major fundraiser for one of our Brother Knights. She also served in a major role in the recent Prince of Peace Gala which raised money for our Mercy Center. For their contributions to our parish and Council Ted and Margeaux have been chosen
as Family of the Month for November.
Clay & Faye Evans
Whatever it is our Council is involved in, you will find Clay Evans being involved. More often than not, Faye is right there with him. Monthly staff lunches, ACTS team meeting meals and exemplification ceremonies at St. Andrew Discipleship Center are just a few of the events the Council has held that they were a major part of. For their contributions to our Council and parish they have been chosen to be honored as Family of the Month for October.
Dave & Alice Wimberly
These two are the “Batman and Robin” of Prince of Peace. If something is happening at the parish or the Council, they are involved. Dave serves our Council as webmaster, constantly updating and making additions to our website. He also serves as the media guy when we are holding Degree ceremonies in the St. Andrew Discipleship Center. He has manned the table to take credit card orders when we have our monthly meals. The list of things in which he is involved just goes on and on. Then there is Alice. She is only four foot something, but has more energy than a super-collider. It would be a lot easier and take up much less space if I listed the things she is not involved in. If it’s happening at Prince of Peace, Alice is either in the middle of it or she started it. She is a very active member of Catholic Daughters and currently the Court Recording Secretary. For their dedication and seemingly unending service to our Council and parish, Dave and Alice were chosen to be honored as Family of the Month for September.
Mike and Pilar Plasczyk
Mike and his son Bryan are new additions to our Council joining back in May. Since joining, Mike and Bryan (until he returned to A&M) volunteered at nearly every function we have had. Mike’s wife, Pilar, is an ACTS sister and has served as a team member on ACTS retreats. For their service to our Council and Parish they have been chosen as Family of the Month for August.
Ed & Shirley Benedix
Ed and Shirley are long time members of Prince of Peace. Ed has been a brother Knight since 1992. He currently is serving as the chairman of our Retention Committee and is also a Past Grand Knight. Shirley has served our parish as the leader of the Arts and Environment group that is responsible for all the decorations and banners you see in the church at Christmas and Easter. For their dedication to our Council and parish they have been chosen as Family of the Month for July.
Dan and Stella Brooks
This wonderful couple are always active in our Council’s most important functions. They both, together and individually, bless us with much needed leadership qualities as well as hands on involvement in much of what the Knights do for our parish and community. Dan is an avid golfer and always plays a role on our Gala/Golf committee organizing this annual event supporting our Mercy Ministry at Prince of Peace. He serves on our usher team at Sunday masses and is always pitching in at Knight events. Stella is equally active, and recently stepped down as the head of our parish’s Blessed Beginnings program for children where she played a prominent role in the development of that program which has become a model for Catholic parishes everywhere. Stella is currently the Financial Secretary for Catholic Daughters Court
of the Holy Family #2597. For their continuous contributions to our Council and parish we would like to honor Dan and Stella as our Family of the Month.
Merv and Mary Jane Albert
If I listed all the things Merv and Mary Jane have done for our Council, parish and other organizations, this newsletter would be thicker than a James Michener novel. Merv currently serves as the Associate Diocesan Deputy and is responsible for guiding two Councils, ours being one of them. He played an extremely important part in our recent membership drive. Merv serves the parish as both an usher and Eucharistic Minister. Mary Jane is also involved in parish ministries serving as a Eucharistic Minister. In addition she is also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, is a
past State Treasurer, is currently the CDA State Newsletter Editor and is the driving force behind the best newsletter in the nation. For their contributions to our Council and parish they have been chosen to be honored as Family of the Month for May.
Bob and Janice McCarthy
The McCarthys have been at Prince of Peace for as long as most of us can remember. Bob is a Past Grand Knight of our Council and currently serves as the Faithful Navigator of Assembly #2033. Janice is very involved in the Right to Life group at Prince of Peace and most recently organized the 24-hour Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament held in the Mary Chapel in January. For their continued involvement in the Knights of Columbus and Prince of Peace, we would like to honor them as the Family of the Month.
Otto and Jackie Windholtz
If you don’t know Jackie and Otto, you aren’t paying attention. They are both in the 9:00 am choir and serve together as cantors. When not doing that, Otto also serves as an usher. Back in January, Jackie was the driving force behind the 24-hour Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament that was done in support of our pro-life movement. She also served as Chapel Host at the Reconciliation Service held at Prince of Peace. For their contributions to our Council and parish we would like to honor Jackie and Otto as our Family of the Month.
Richard Hixon Family
Richard and Joan Hixon were long time parishioners of Prince of Peace. Joan’s untimely death in 2019 left a huge void in the ACTS community as well as many ministries in the Church. Richard has continued to serve his Church, community and the Knights of Columbus. The family has been very active in the Prestonwood Flyers Swim team, Champions Swim Team, home schooling, Knights of Columbus, Scouting and American Heritage Girls. Not only is Richard an EMHC and active in That Man Is You, but he dedicated his time and effort as the Director of the 2018 Men’s ACTS Retreat. His daughters “stole the show” at the first Trunk-a-Ween held at the St. Andrews Discipleship Center by entertaining the kids as giant dinosaurs. When the pandemic hit us Richard became active with a group of men who met regularly in driveways and back porches calling themselves the “Mandate” (notice the play on words in that it was a male audience) who shared praises, intentions, a rosary, and overall prayers for our Prince of Peace clergy and staff. Thank you Richard and your wonderful family for all you do for our Parish, community and the Knights.
Brian and Julie Gray
Brian presently serves as the Lecturer of our Council and together with the whole Gray family is responsible for the success of our tamale sales to sponsor our seminarians. Both Brian and Julie are active members of the ACTS retreat and serve as EMHCs. Brian is also a lector at Prince of Peace. Thank you both for the wonderful example you exemplify as a model Catholic family.
Bernie and Patrick Boyle
Bernie and Patrick are a very active couple. Bernie is an ACTS sister and has served as a team member on many women’s ACTS Retreats. She is also involved in the Women in the Spirit retreats and is the co-director of this year’s retreat that will be held in February. She currently is working as an administrative volunteer in the offices at Prince of Peace. Patrick is a key member of our Council serving as the Director of Life activities as well as helping our Membership Director. He is an ACTS brother and has served as a team member on ACTS retreats at Prince of Peace and Mary Queen Catholic Church in Friendswood. Patrick also serves as a team member on the Kolbe Retreat team of prison ministries. Congratulations to Bernie and Patrick on being recognized as Family of the Month for November.
Joseph and Pam Camp
Joe and his wife Pam have been members of Prince of Peace since 2012. They are both very active in our parish with Joe serving as an EMHC and Pam as a cantor and member of the 9:00 am choir. They are also active in the ACTS community serving as retreat team members. Congratulations to Joe and Pam on being honored as Family of the Month.

Tim & Kiersten O'Malley
Tim and Kiersten have always been active at Prince of Peace. When I became Grand Knight, Tim accepted the position of Pro-gram Director. He is the first Program Director in a long time and this job required re-establishing the program structure. Tim, I am sure, using his experience as a Past Grand Knight, jumped into effort by working with the various directors under him to bring an organization to the Programs Committee which are responsible for those programs we do each year. He meets once a month with his program directors to discuss upcoming events. If there are any additional needs, he makes sure the Council is informed and supports the director and chairman of the event to make it a success. Kiersten, who is the Worship Associate Director at Prince of Peace, works hard. She has helped your Grand Knight when the Council is doing something at the Church. She was a fantastic help when we hosted the Silver Rose, organizing the request for tables and seating for the 4th Degree Knights. Tim and Kiersten have provided the Council, and especially me, with a lot of help this past year. Thank you Tim and Kiersten.

The Wimberly’s are the energizer bunnies of Prince of Peace. They are actively involved in many of the ministries with the most recent the fundraiser for St Ignatius serving as co-chairs with the Evans family. They don’t forget the Knights, Alice and Dave have made the gumbo for our fish frys. Dave is our Webmaster and keeps our webpage current. Whenever a request is made to do something on the webpage, Dave gets right on it and either does it himself or works with those who need to provide information. Congratulations Dave and Alice.
