KNIGHTS OF THE MONTH

January 2019

Jim Michaletz

Jim Michaletz is our Knight of the Month. Jim serves on the leadership team for Men of Christ, which hosted its 12th Annual Men of Christ Conference in Milwaukee on March 10th. Over 2,000 men gathered for a full day of inspiring talks, beautiful music, Confession, Mass with Archbishop Listecki and much more! This is a major production that Jim and the Men of Christ team puts together every year, benefitting countless souls. Great work, Jim!

Mark Wegman

Our Council is grateful to Mark for again organizing our Annual Clergy Night Dinner on February 6th. A group of 60 came together for a wonderful night to show appreciation to our parish leaders. Mark is a faithful attendee at our monthly meetings, volunteers for nearly every Council event, and heads up our County Fair fundraiser, which is a major undertaking. Thanks for all you do and the great example to set for all Knights, Mark!

Peter Schmidt

Peter Schmidt is our Knight of the Month! Peter has been a Knight since March 2016 and advanced to the 3rd degree later that year. Taking an active role in the Council from the start, Peter is a regular at our monthly meetings, and has helped with many programs, including the County Fair fundraiser, Tootsie Roll Drive, Life Savers for Life, and many more. With a heart for service, Peter is part of the SFB Men's Group and is as a Eucharistic Minister. He, his wife Polly and their kids are active members of SFB Parish and School. Fun Fact: Peter traps beavers as a hobby and works for the City of Cedarburg managing the population around town!

Dan Montaine

A Knight since 1993, Dan Montaine has been a dedicated and enthusiastic promoter of the Order for many years! Dan has held several positions in the San Salvador Council, including Past Grand Knight, and has been very generous in giving of himself in service to the Council, the community, and to his parish, St. Joe's. Dan is also a very involved 4th Degree Knight and serves in the Honor Guard. He is currently working to start a 4th Degree Assembly in Ozaukee County. Thanks for all the good you do, Dan, and congratulations on being our Knight of the Month!

Giuliani John

John Giuliani is our Knight of the Month. Having most recently served as Warden, John took the post of Inside Guard in July. He is a faithful attendee at our monthly meetings, always arriving early to setup and staying late to clean up. A military veteran and a Knight since 2008, John earned his 3rd degree in 2010 and has been a reliable volunteer for the Fair, Tootsie Roll Drive, Holy Hill ushering, and much more over the years. John has also served as an usher at SFB for many years. Thanks for all you do, John!

Fr. Patrick Burns

Our new KC Chaplain, Fr. Patrick! Fr. Patrick grew up in Mequon and was ordained to the priesthood in May 2013 by Archbishop Listecki. He served his first three years as an associate pastor at St. Charles Parish in Hartland. In 2016, Fr. Patrick came to SFB as associate pastor, and in 2017 was named administrator of the parish. He looks forward to helping the people of the parish and the community to come to know Christ more deeply every day. With his very busy schedule and numerous responsibilities, we are deeply grateful to Fr. Patrick for serving as our San Salvador Council Chaplain and stand ready to serve him in every way possible.

July 2018

Michael Hartig

Michael joined the San Salvador Council on 2/8/16 and advance to the 2nd and 3rd degree seven months later. Since joining, Michael has taken an active part at our monthly business meetings and has volunteered to help with several projects, including the County Fair. Recently, Michael co-chaired our very successful 2017 Tootsie Roll Drive to raise funds for Special Olympics of Ozaukee County and Portal Industries. Michael was just elected Lecturer and will be serving as an officer of the Council for the 2017-18 fraternal year. Congratulations and thanks, Michael!

June 2018

Roger Knepprath

A long-time and active member of SFB parish, Roger joined the San Salvador Council in February 2016 and advanced to the 2nd and 3rd degree in September. Roger has been an engaged member since day one and is a great addition to our brotherhood, stepping up to help with multiple programs this past year and serving as Co-Chairman of the 2017 Tootsie Roll Drive happening this month. Roger is a regular at our monthly business meetings and just accepted a nomination to serve as Chancellor for the 2017-18 fraternal year. Roger is very involved in the community through 4H and has served SFB for years as a Eucharistic Minister and Youth Leader. Thanks for your strong Catholic witness, Roger!

Rick Schaub

Rick, a PGK and current trustee of the Council, is a faithful Knight who can always be counted on when a job needs to be done. Rick recently agreed to assume Financial Secretary duties for the Council, in addition to being Faithful Comptroller for his 4th Degree assembly.

April 2018

Deacon Mark Leonardelli

A long-time Knight, Deacon Mark just transferred in to the San Salvador Council after his appointment to SFB! He grew up in West Allis and most recently lived in Naperville, Illinois, with his wife Ann. Deacon Mark is an executive in the water conservation industry. Throughout his career, he has been involved in many ministries and charities. In 2011, Deacon Mark was ordained a deacon in the Diocese of Joliet. He served at St. Raphael and Holy Spirit Catholic churches in Naperville. Moving back to Wisconsin, he was appointed permanent deacon to serve St. Francis Borgia and was welcomed by parishioners in September 2017.

Paul Monet

Paul joined the Council in May 2016, and fast-tracked to his 2nd & 3rd Degree in September! He wasted no time getting involved, helping with the County Fair fundraiser last summer and volunteering to chair the KC Statewide Charity Raffle fundraiser for our Council this year. Thanks, Paul!

Terry Retzke

Terry Retzke has been a Knight since 1999 and has served as the Council's Financial Secretary for the past several years, administering member records and handling business matters. His steady and competent leadership has been a huge asset for the San Salvador Council, providing consistency and continued momentum from year to year as Grand Knights change. An active SFB parishioner and devoted Knight, Terry stays involved and has led many initiatives, including launching the men's group That Man Is You and organizing a successful Holy Land Pilgrimage. Extremely active in pro-life work, Terry has spent many hours witnessing at area abortion clinics and working with pregnancy help centers to support young mothers. Thank you, Terry, for your hard work and example!

Bill Raymond

Trustee Bill Raymond is our Knight of the Month! For over 40 years, Bill has served his Church and Community as a knight. He has served in various council roles, including Grand Knight, and also served at the district level. Bill has been an anchor of the San Salvador Council over the years, giving guidance to transitioning officer teams to ensure sound management and consistency. Bill has put in countless hours over the years, helping with service projects and taking the lead in maintaining our old clubhouse on Pioneer Road. Bill and wife Agnes work multiple shifts yearly at our County Fair burger stand to raise funds for the Council's good works. Thanks for your many years of service, Bill! You've been an example to us all.

Tim Schumaker

Our Knight of the Month is Tim Schumaker! In addition to being a brother knight, Tim is a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee who just successfully completed another semester of studies at St. Joseph College Seminary at Loyola, Chicago. Gary Fatla

Since joining the Knights in 2011, Gary has made a tremendous impact on the Council. He has held multiple officer posts (currently serving as Chancellor) and has been the catalyst in our recruiting efforts in recent years, bringing in a record number of new members in 2016 alone! Gary aggressively promotes the KCs and started a monthly open house for interested men, arriving to monthly meetings early every month to setup, prepare snacks, and greet prospects. Gary can be counted on to lend a hand no matter what the task. He volunteers his time generously for Council service projects, has put many hours into updating our Council meeting space, and is an anchor for our annual county fair fundraiser. A military veteran, Gary currently oversees maintenance efforts at St. Francis Borgia Catholic School. More important than his work on the physical building is the relationship he has developed with the students of the school. Affectionately known school wide as "Mr. Gary," his warm, genuine, and cheerful presence makes a noticeable impact in the lives of all at SFB School. For these reasons, and many more, Gary is our San Salvador Council Knight of the Month for December and for the year 2016! Congratulations, Gary, and thank you for all you do for the Knights, the Church, and the Community!

Jim Graham

Our November Knight of the Month is Jim Graham. After joining us in February, Jim has taken an active role in the Council, helping with the Tootsie Roll Drive, taking a leadership role in our county fair fundraiser, and organizing our Holy Hill ushering duty in October. Thanks, Jim!

Noah Abshire

Noah was our Lifesavers for Life Chairman, kicking off Respect Life Month with a fundraiser at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. Noah and his many volunteers collected $726.85. for the Women's Support Center and Women's Care Center of Milwaukee. Thank you, Noah!

January 2019

The John & Barb Hayden Family

John became a knight in 2001, but his family's service to the Church began long before that. Barb for many years was the music teacher at SFB School and left a lasting impression on hundreds of students over the years. She put in countless hours as a Catholic school teacher preparing for classes, planning liturgies & concerts, and mentoring her students. For the past 16 years as a knight, John has been a consistent presence at the Tootsie Roll Drive, County Fair Fundraisier, Lifesavers for Life, and many other council events. Thank you John & Barb for your strong Catholic witness!

The Jim & Helen Michaletz Family

Jim has been a San Salvador Council Knight since 1997 and is very active in the Church, serving on the leadership teams for both the Men of Christ and the SFB E&AC Building Project. Jim & Helen have donated countless hours serving on SFB committees, doing Pro Life work, and offering their marketing talents to help promote various events at SFB and around the archdiocese. You will often see Jim with his camera at church functions chronicling the events. Helen, in addition to raising 5 children (well 6, including Jim), has been very involved in Respect Life activities and is very involved at SFB School. Likewise, all the Michaletz children serve the Church in a variety of ways as cantors, choir members, servers, and active members of many SFB School activities. Congratulations Jim & Helen!

The Dennis & Michelle Fortuna Family

Congratulations to Dennis and Michelle Fortuna, our family of the month! Both are active members of St. Francis Borgia Parish and give generously of themselves as Eucharistic ministers, as catechists and in many other areas of parish and community life. Dennis serves as our Treasurer and Michelle heads up our local St. Vincent DePaul Society. The Joe & Joan Willbrandt Family

Congratulations to Joe and Joan Willbrandt, our Family of the Month. Joe and Joan, and their family, give generously of themselves, especially through their involvement in the Knights of Columbus and the VFW in Cedarburg. Joe is a Trustee of the San Salvador Council, is involved in numerous council activities, and has been an anchor in managing our county fair fundraiser for many years. The John & Charmaine Herbert Family

John and Charmaine Herbert serve as the San Salvador Council's Culture of Life Chair Couple. They have been active in pro-life work for many years. John and Charmaine organize the Pro-Life Wisconsin unit for the Cedarburg 4th of July Parade, head up the Cedarburg Life Chain and help organize the Pro Life Wisconsin annual banquet. Thank you John and Charmaine for all you do to promote life!

The Roger & Sheila Knepprath Family

Roger and Sheila Knepprath are long-time SFB parishioners and active community members. We were blessed to have Roger join the Council in February 2016, with his son, Jeremy. Both advanced to the 3rd degree later that year. Roger jumped right in with the Knights, attending business meetings, taking on an officer role, and helping with numerous Council activities, often with Sheila or his children by his side. Roger and Sheila are very involved at SFB and serve the parish as Eucharistic Ministers. Their whole family has been very active in 4H over the years. Fun Fact: Roger and Sheila are long-time square dancing enthusiasts!

The Dan & Lois Duffy Family

Dan and Lois are long-time SFB members and educated their many children at SFB School. Lois is a nurse and Dan is a doctor with a family practice in Cedarburg with Columbia St. Mary's. Dan and his family have been faithful volunteers every year at our County Fair Fundraiser, Tootsie Roll Drive, Life Savers for Life, and more. Thanks Dan & Lois for your important work in health care and in the community!

The Mark & Angie Wegman Family

Our Council is grateful to have Mark & Angie with us! Since Mark became a Knight in 2013, they have been extremely generous with their time with various Council activities, especially with our Ozaukee County Fair Fundraiser. Despite health challenges, they have put in dozens of hours helping to orchestrate a successful burger operation at the Fair in recent years, culminating in record revenues in 2017! Mark has held several officer posts and is currently our Outside Guard. We appreciate all you do for the San Salvador Council and the Church, Mark & Angie!

The Ken and Laurie Theiler Family

Ken and Laurie moved their family to Cedarburg from Ohio a few years ago, and Ken joined the San Salvador Council in January 2016. Despite being very busy launching a new business (Temperature Pro in Cedarburg), the Theilers are generous with their time. They are active members of the SFB School community, volunteering and coaching. Ken and his family have been a big help with San Salvador events, including the County Fair and Tootsie Roll Drive. The Nels & Elisabeth Olsen Family

Nels & Elisabeth, and their two daughters, have been long-time members of SFB. Elisabeth and the girls have been very involved with the choir over the years. Nels was introduced to the Knights through his father, Frederick Olsen, and became a 1st degree member in 2002, later advancing to the 2nd and 3rd degrees. Nels has faithfully served as our Council Recorder for many years, and the entire Olsen family has devoted countless hours to Council activities, especially to the Tootsie Roll Drive and Ozaukee County Fair. The Tom & Joanne Berk Family

Tom & Joanne, and their four kids, have been active members of SFB parish for many years. Their entire family has been extremely generous, giving of themselves to the parish, school, and community in many and varied ways. Notably, Tom & Joann are active in Music Ministry and have lead many summer parish youth mission trips over the years. Most importantly, their dedication to family life is a powerful witness to their Catholic faith. They have made many sacrifices to give their kids a Catholic education and sporting opportunities, and have been a positive example to all that know them of persevering through the ups and downs of family life. The Deacon Dick & Dori Govek Family

Deacon Dick became a Knight in 2009 and has generously served as our proxy Chaplain since that time. Deacon Dick was ordained a deacon on June 13, 1992, and began to serve at St. Joseph Parish where he was a parishioner. His primary ministry was visiting prisoners at the Ozaukee County Jail, where he led worship services and conducted bible classes. His other ministries at the parish included leading RCIA Inquiry, Baptism preparation, and bible classes in the parish, as well as serving as a member of the Human Concerns committee. Dick retired as an active deacon in June 2009. Dick and his wife, Dorie, grew up in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. They were married in October 1956 and lived in Milwaukee until July 1968, when they moved to Grafton and became members of St. Joseph Parish.

The Rich & Susan Knoelke Family

Richard & Susan, and their 3 children, have been active SFB members for over 20 years, and Rich has been a San Salvador Knight for almost as long. Rich can always be counted on to work the County Fair, Tootsie Roll Drive, Lifesavers for Life, and many other Council activities. He is active in youth ministry, leading Confirmation classes for the past several years, and has been coach for many SFB School sports teams over the years. Susan too is very active in the parish and school, serving as a teacher's aid the past several years. She also recently starting a school walking club!

The Mike & Tobey Neuberger Family

Mike has been a San Salvador Knight since 2011, and his large family has been a big help at our County Fair fundraisers! He and his wife Tobey have been long-time members of SFB Church and School, serving on a variety of committees and volunteer assignments over the years. Most notably, the Neubergers are devoted to the pro-life movement and active with respect life initiatives all around Milwaukee, including ministering and witnessing to women at abortion facilities and participating in the 40 Days for Life campaigns. Tobey is also head of the SFB Respect Life group, which is organizing a bus to Washington D.C. for the March for Life in 2018. Thanks for all you do for the Church and for Life, Mike & Tobey!.
