March 2025

Jerome Family

The Jerome Family is being recognized for their involvement in the St. John the XXIII Parish, School and the community. Randy serves on the School Advisor Board and the Faith Formation Commission; Sabrina works in the Special Education Department at the High School and is very involved in the kids activities. Gretchen and Gwen are currently enrolled at SJXXII and Gabe and Reagan are alums. The whole family can often be found volunteering together around the parish. Whether it be helping out at Fish Day or working together at the Sunday evening Mass doing the Children’s Liturgy. They are also active in a Family Rosary group.

Backhaus Family

The Backhaus’ are being recognized for their active involvement at St. John the XXIII Parish, School and the community. Anthony, Braeden, and Courtney are a part of the core group of Servers at the Immaculate Conception Church Site. Laurie and Steve can often be found helping out at Parish and School events. Most recently Anthony and Braeden crawled into the steeple at Immaculate Conception to evict some squatters (birds) and clean up the mess they left behind. As Pope St John Paul II stated in a Homily in Washington DC, “To maintain a joyful family requires much of both the parents and the children. Each member of the family has to become, in a special way, the servant of others and share their burdens.” So it goes without saying that Backhaus’ exude this tenet as live out their faith and serve the parish and community.

September 2024

The Tome Family

The Tomes are being recognized for their years of involvement at St. John the XXIII Parish and the community. Joe has been a long time volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and has served as the Council’s liaison with them for over 20 years. He has also served as an usher and eucharistic minister and is also a member of the Men’s Society. Before the Parish Consolidation, Bev worked for many years as the secretary for Immaculate Conception and is an active member of the Catholic Women’s Society. As St. Pope John Paul II stated in a Homily in Washington DC, “To maintain a joyful family requires much of both the parents and the children. Each member of the family has to become, in a special way, the servant of others and share their burdens.” So it goes without saying that Joe and Bev have been the ultimate teammates for each other as they have raised 5 children in the parish and supported the parish and community.

August 2024

The Goebel Family

Bob and Joan are long time members of the Parish. Bob is an active Knight and member of the Parish Choir, often serving as a Cantor for Mass and Funerals. Bob also serves a Confirmation instructor and contributes special wood working projects. He has also served as Treasurer for the Council over 30 years. Joan also serves as an EMHC at St. Joseph's in Grafton. Both have spent time taking the Eucharist to the Sick and Infirmed in the community.

July 2024

Lorier Family

The Loriers are long time and very active members of the Parish and School. Mike and Rachel have been serving as FOCCUS Marriage Ministers for over 16 years. Rachel has served as the Secretary for the School Commission, is a past Home and School President, and has served as the lead for the Flower Sale for many years. Their boys Sawyer and Jack can often be seen serving at the 8:30 Mass at Immaculate Conception. Olivia is eagerly awaiting to become an Alter Serve and soon join her brothers as a Server.

June 2024

Lundgren Family

The Lundgrens are being recognized for their instrumental support of St. John the XXIII Catholic School. Bill is the president of the Home and School Association. As St. Pope John Paul II stated in a Homily in Washington DC, “To maintain a joyful family requires much of both the parents and the children. Each member of the family has to become, in a special way, the servant of others and share their burdens.” So it goes without saying that Regan and Adam have been the ultimate teammates for Bill. Bill and Regan have done some amazing things to improve collaboration among the parish and school. One of their most recognizable accomplishments is bringing back the hugely successful Monthly BINGO. Bill and Regan also recently completed Order of Christian Initiation of Adults and became full members of the Church this past Easter. And from all reports, Adam is an excellent student at school.

Groothousen Family

The Groothousens are long time members of the parish and have been pivotal to the success of The Food Panty. Through Phil and Shirley's arduous work, leadership, unquestioned generosity, and their pattern of self-giving love, they have built a network of donating businesses and organizations for the Food Panty and ensured that countless Ozaukee County families in need have not gone hungry and had appropriate meals with all the fixings for holidays. They have been so successful, that The Food Pantry has outgrown its space in the basement of the Rectory and is working to build a new facility to better serve the community. As Archbishop Lori, the Archbishop of Baltimore and the Knights of Columbus Chaplain states, “Faith leads to Charity and Charity Leads to Faith”. Phil and Shirley exude the virtues of this quote.

April 2024

Kretlow Family

The Kretlow Family is very active family withing the parish and are involved in many of different ministries. Jim and Kellie are active in the CRE program as catechists and adult leaders on mission trips, additionally they assist with the Hospitality Committee. Their children Jamie, Tommy and Bobby are active participants in CRE with Jamie planning on becoming an adult leader and the boys routinely Serving at Masses. The entire family can routinely bees seen Ushering at the Sunday 5PM Mass or filling in as needed.

McComis Family

Mike and Julie McComis are long time members of the parish are involved in many of the ministries. Mike as a Lead Usher, Eucharistic Minister and Sacristan. Julie as a member of the Choir, a Cantor and Lector. What many don’t see is their help in those ministries at funeral masses. They both actively volunteer in the community as well.

Sampont Family

John and Mary Sampont have done yeoman's work in supporting fundraising for Intellectual Disabilities and ultrasound machines for Care Net. Both are active in Right to Life ministries and 4th Degree Assembly events to include recognizing Veterans as they return from Honor Flights and coordinating participation in the Flag Day and Luxembourg Fest parades.

Sereno Family

Congratulations to the Bob and Dania Sereno Family for being selected as the January 2024 Family of the Month. The family is actively involved in the Parish serving in multiple Ministries...Server, EMHC, Lector, among others and can always be counted on to lend a hand when needed.
