September 2025
Paul Normand
The Knight of the Month for September is Paul Normand. Paul took
over the reins of the Golf Committee when Lou Mattes died last
December. Under Paul’s constant encouragement the committee
performed a near miracle in pulling things together by tournament
date. Paul made frequent updates to the council and frequently
encourage ALL members to assist in getting the needed resources to
be successful. The committee needed sponsors, player, and workers.
On tournament day they had what was needed and the committee
met, if not exceeded, their goals. Much credit goes to Paul who
constantly says all the credit goes to the committee. But the
committee needs a good leader to be successful. Well done, Paul,
you deserve this honor!

Jerry Jaggers
The grand knight has chosen Jerry Jaggers as the Knight of the Month for July, 2025.
Jerry is the current chancellor of the council and has worked in several areas of the
council: membership, degrees and other activities. Jerry was instrumental in getting the
candidates to the degrees so we could qualify for Star Council. He is also a big seller of
the football books that help finance the council. Great work Jerry, Congrats!
May 2025
Gerry J. Roggemann
Brother Gerry has volunteered much of his time and talent working as the head chef at our Council Picnic's and Pancake Breakfast's. Gerry also plays Santa at our annual Christmas Party, surprising many of the younger guests there. Brother Gerry volunteers and goes wherever needed, when asked. He brings great credit upon the Knights of Coumbus and Council 1074!
February 2025
Ken Levy
For the month of February 2025, the council has selected Ken Levy as our Knight of the
Month. His selection is based on his hard work ensuring that many widows and home
bound ladies are not forgotten on Saint Valentine’s Day each year. For several years
Kenny has worked with several other knights to gather names and working with a local
group, delivered floral arrangements to ladies who might otherwise be forgotten.
FAMILIES OF THE MONTH
July 2026
The Sidney Family
The Sidney Family, Adam and Bridgett along with two sons, exemplify service to the
parish and community. Adam has been ushering at St. Mary for over ten years and is an
active role model for his two sons. Both boys attend St. Mary Catholic School. As the
boys get older they will transition into ushering, like their father. Adam’s faith carries
over into his family run business where his wife and older boy help out.
June 2026
The Reeves Family
The Jack Reeves Family Is Council 1074’s Family of the Month for May. Father, Jack,
and wife, Sandy, have three children. Jack is not a member of the Knights of Columbus,
but the family puts their faith into action. Jack serves as an usher at the Bacilia as well
as being an OCIA volunteer; he has personally sponsored several candidates. Sandy is a
lector and is on the committee to form the new catholic high school. The boys have all
been altar servers. The family is active in the parish community while working full-
time. They are true examples of the Holy Spirit giving service to others.
May 2026
The Ellegood's
This family has been a member of the Basilica since 2008. She is a member of the St.
Mary Catholic Daughters and hold the position of financial secretary. They conducted
fund raisers for Camp Victory, a camp for handicapped children. They provided pasta
dinner boxes for “Yesterday’s Child.” They have been members of the Camillus
Ministry for years; this ministry brings the Eucharist to the sick and home bound. They
have also helped train others in this important ministry. They delivered Poinsettia’s to
sick and home bound during the Christmas season! Daniel and Patricia's children are: Devin, Braydon, Logan, and Caten have all served as altar servers during mass.

Englewood Family
The Family of the Month for April is the Englewood family. The Daniel Ellegood
Family have been parishioners at St Mary's sense 2008. They have four children from
ages 11 to 18 years old, and all of them have served as alter servers growing up. Dan's
wife is a member of the St. Mary Catholic Daughters and they both are members of the
Camillus Ministry, dedicated to serving the sick, injured and home bound, and often
bring Holy Communion to older parishioners in the hospital, nursing facilities, or to
there home. The Ellegood Family puts into action their Faith when it comes to helping
those in need.
January 2026
The Winder Family
Chris and Brianna Winder have been St. Mary
Parishioners for about ten years. Chris is a policemen
for the town of Leland. Brianna is an office manager
for a medical doctor's office at Monkey Junction.
Their three children, Zoey, Jimmy, and Annie all
attend St. Mary Catholic School. Zoey and Jimmy are
faithful servers at the 8:30 am mass each and every
Sunday. This family exemplifies positive Catholic
principles in their daily life.
January 2026
Pikoulas
William & Carolyn Pikoulas work hard at being good role
models for their children and other families. They set the
example on what growing up Catholic means, by sending their
children to St Mary's Catholic School and by practicing their
faith. The three oldest boys are altar servers at the 8:30 mass
every Sunday. Daily prayer is a big part of this family's life.
When Carolyn isn't working, she is volunteering at the boy's
school and helping in other church ministries.
November 2025
Brother Greg and Rose Armstrong
Brother Greg and Rose Armstrong have been active member of our Council for the past
several years, before moving to Wingate, NC in order to be closer to family. While here
he held several key positions, Family Director and Social Picnic Coordinator. They
always went above and beyond in order to have a well-decorated pavilion, plenty of
food and door prizes as well as games for the families. They made sure all felt
welcomed. Greg also participated in many food drives, Basketball Free Throw
Competitions, and our Blood Connection blood drives at the Basilica. Best of luck to
the Armstrong Family as the journey on to their new life with their grandchildren.
November 2025
Piggly Wiggly in Leland
The group that owns and runs the Piggly Wiggly in Leland had a business meeting
recently. Richard Boccard took that opportunity to present them with a Family of the
Month Certificate for their generous and gracious assistance in allowing us to collect
food at their store. They appreciated the gesture. The store manager is Bryan Saunders.

John and Andrea Reynolds Family
The family of John and Andrea Reynolds is Council 1074’s July Family of the Month.
They are active in the ICC parish family. John is a cantor, primarily at the 8:30 AM
liturgy, while Andrean covers several masses some weekends. She is also the music
director at ICC and leads the choir. Andrea is a full-time teacher at Roland-Griese
Middle School.
John is an active Knight of Columbus serving as the lead in the Msgr. C. Dennen
Assembly’s scholarship program. He is also active in the council serving briefly as the
newsletter editor.
The Reynolds have three children now all graduated from college.
June 2025
Joseph and Lorraine McDonald
The council’s Family of the Month for June is Joseph and Lorraine McDonald of ICC
parish. Joe and Lorraine have been married for 60 years. They have three adult
children, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Joe retired from the Yonkers,
New York Fire Department as a lieutenant. Joe has been the head usher at ICC for three
years and is stepping down from that position. He plans to continue ushering at ICC.
Lorraine is an active greeter at ICC at the 8:30 liturgy. Congratulations Joe and
Lorraine.

Tom & Dianne Russell
The Russell's have long been a huge help to The HELP Center at Federal Point.
They collect and deliver all the food that gets dropped off before mass on Sunday. Dianne has been doing the scheduling for all the staff; she does this at home on her own time. Together Tom and Dianne make a great team, keeping The HELP Center, stocked with food and staffed with volunteer help!
