Family Day Picnic - July 2024

Council 4442's Family Day Picnic, TAPS, and Scholarship Drawing was held on Sunday, July 28, 2024 and attended by approximately 84 members, family and friends. We were blessed with outstanding weather. The preparation started on Saturday, July 27, 2024, with setting up the tents, tables and chairs, cleaning the grills, and purchasing of the food. A special thanks goes out to Mike Petrilli for being one of the first in on Sunday morning to start the food preparation, followed by Ed Lynch. Also, a special thanks goes out to Ralph Miele and Stan Gorgol for grilling/cooking outside under the tent. Father Marc, with Seminarian Calup, blessed us with their presence and offered the opening prayer. Again, the food lasted, with extra/leftovers to spare. The entertainment was performed by Malik Haddadi from Unconventional Productions. Two lovely children attended and had a great time.

I want to personally thank Larry Belair, who, when asked, jumped in wholeheartedly and with his tenacity and charm collected a total of $226.00 for the 50/50 Drawing. Pat Comeau won the drawing. Repeatedly, this year we had an army of volunteers which I'm truly grateful for. I just want to list a few that set up the tents, grills, table and chairs on Saturday, July 27th and cooking and preparation on Sunday, July 28th. Not in any particular order:

Sunday, July 28th - Cooking & Preparation: Mike & Kathy Petrilli, Ed Lynch, Grill Master - Ralph Miele, Grill Master - Stan Gorgol, Chris Bernier, Jim Harvey, John Polcari, and may positive thoughts & actions of others.

TAPS (Tuition Assistance Parochial Students): The nine TAPS recipients for 2024 were announced by TAPS’ Chairman Mike Petrilli. The awards went to:
Laura Balzano, Julia Balzano, James Kish , Addison Banks, Naysa Lee George , Theresa Hevey, Thomas Reitano, Grace Reitano, Luke Reitano.
Scholarship Drawing: There were 31 qualified applicants. There were a total of 25, $1,000.00 scholarships. Per the Scholarship By-laws and drawing, the twenty five $1,000.00 scholarship awardees are:

The Council Checks were mailed out July 31, 2024.
