Enriching Our Community

The Knights of Columbus Fredericksburg Council #4034 promotes the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.

This year's Freedom 5K Sponsor's proceeds will go 100% evenly split to BirthrightHope House and Mary's Shelter all non-profit local community organizations.  Each organizations mission is a little different  and outlined below:

Hope House

Hope House combines effective practices that incorporate safe, affordable housing, employment, transportation and childcare. These are all necessary components for a family to sustain financial self-reliance in their own home. Families complete a comprehensive assessment conducted immediately to understand what is needed in addition to shelter. At this time a person may require education, job training, transportation, mental health services, parenting support and childcare.

Mary's Shelter

Mary’s Shelter provides expectant mothers, and any additional children she has, with housing up to three years in order to further her education and/or secure employment. She must receive counseling, attend in-house parenting and life-skill classes and adhere to the program covenants which offer structure, self-discipline and guidance. Each resident has a mentor who provides hands-on support, compassion and encouragement. This foundation ensures our mothers have the necessary time and tools to work toward their goals and provide for their children, making the possibility of independent living a reality.

Birthright

Birthright is unique and committed to offering free, non-judgmental help to women facing unplanned pregnancies. Birthright offers love, hope and support to each woman, to help her make a realistic plan for her future and the future of her unborn child. Birthright helps any girl or woman regardless of age, race, religion, marital status or financial situation, who is facing an unplanned pregnancy.

For over 65 years Fredericksburg Council #4034 has provided charitable services, donations etc., to Fredericksburg and surrounding area. Today, we share these opportunities in the local area to serve others Through our Flagship Program: Faith In Action (Faith, Family, Community and Life).

The Freedom 5K Run/Walk supports just a few of the many activities Fredericksburg Council #4034 uses to raise funds and give back to our community for activities like:  Coats for Kids, Breakfast with Santa & Toys for Tots, Family Dinners and Pancake Breakfasts whose proceeds go to different local organizations.  Council #4034 also supports two State programs:  KOVAR - Knights of Virginia Assisting the Intellectually Disabled (Tootsie Roll Drive) and Virginia Knights of Columbus Charities Inc. - VKCCI, a last resort option for those in need in our state.  We are grateful to our individual contributors and to our business community partners for their monetary, product donations, donations of time and overall support.

The Knights of Columbus Fredericksburg Council #4034 looks forward to continuing to serve the Fredericksburg area.
