PUT YOUR FAITH INTO ACTION
A few weeks ago, the Knights of Columbus at St. Ann's Parish organized a powerful hurricane relief collection. This effort, supported by the generosity of volunteers and parishioners, provided essential goods and financial assistance to families impacted by the storm.
A dedicated group of 12 volunteers worked tirelessly to receive and sort a wide range of donated items, including diapers, pull-ups, baby wipes, baby formula, baby food, toilet tissue, food items, children's books, and children's toys. These donations, totaling an estimated 250-275 books worth of goods, were carefully sorted and prepared for transport. While an exact count of each item was not taken, it's believed that the number of items collected was several times greater than the number of books. In addition to the physical goods, the Knights also received $10,175 in checks, all of which were explicitly designated for hurricane relief efforts in Georgia.
St. Ann's Our Lady of Lasalette, Council 8376, recently made significant donations to local Pregnancy Resource Centers to support their operations in assisting women before and after childbirth. On February 13th, Peter Dapremont, Grand Knight, and Pete Weiland, Director of Life Programs, donated $2,000 to The HOPE Center in Woodstock. The presentation was made to Laura Haigler, Community Engagement Director, and Cindy O'Leary, Executive Director. The HOPE Center has been assisting women and families for over thirty years, serving over 11,056 clients, conducting over 4,500 ultrasounds, and supporting 1,683 babies at risk of abortion in the last decade.
On February 18th, Peter and Pete donated $7,612 to the Pregnancy Aid Clinic (PAC) to support their Roswell, Atlanta, and Forest Park facilities. Carolina Gomez, Development Director, and Sarah Weikert, Executive Director, received the donation on behalf of PAC. PAC recently marked 40 years of service to women and families, with 5,481 client visits, 1,302 ultrasounds, and 393 changed minds of clients considering abortion in 20242.
All funds were collected from the parishioners of St. Ann during the Baby Bottle Boomerang fundraiser conducted by the Knights during Respect Life Month last October. Additionally, the recipient facilities will receive a 20 percent matching contribution from the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council ASAP (Aid and Support After Pregnancy) program
The Knights were able to present a donation with funds collected from the Tootsie Roll drives in the 2023-2024 Fraternal Year. Mr. Peter Dapremont and Mr. Pete Weiland from the council presented the check to Special Needs Cobb 2,000. Presented the check to Tommy Nobis Center -- $3,043.39. The funds they raised from this year's Tootsie Roll drive will help our students find their path to career success.
Thank you, Knights of Columbus Council 8376!
