The History of Plum City/Arkansaw Council 15739
Similar to the founding of our Order by the Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney, Plum City/Arkansaw Council 15739 came to be because of the desire of a small parish Priest. Father Paul Czerwonka wanted a Knights of Columbus Council to serve both Parishes of his cluster: St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plum City and St Joseph's Catholic Church in Arkansaw.
Following a number of recruitment drives over the winter and spring of 2013, and First Degree Exemplifications with neighboring councils, as well as at St John's in Plum City, the new council acheived the requirements from the Supreme Council need to charter a new council.
The members of the new council along with the District Deputy assigned to the new council, met in the basement of Ava Maria Maria Academy next to St John's. Over the course of two meetings, the council laid down the groundwork for the new council, selected a slate of Charter officers and selected a name for the council. Knowing the council would serve both parishes of the cluster, and wanting St Joseph's in Arkansaw to feel as if they were an equal part of the council, the members selected the name Plum City/Arkansaw for their council.
On June 19, 2013, the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council in New Haven, CT received the last of the required documents and offically chartered the Plum City/Arkansaw Council, and assigned it the council number 15739.
