Council Announcements

St. Matthew's Ministry Fair

May 21st, 2023

Worthy Brother Knights,

A quick note to say "Thank You" to all of our Brother Knights who participated in the St. Matthews Ministry Fair on Sunday, May 21st. Many Brother Knights wore "multiple hats" as members of Saint Vincent de Paul, St. Faustina Conference, Choir, Ushers, Food Pantry, Thrift Store, etc. etc.. It was an eye opener to many attendees that a parish of our size has that many ministries/outreach opportunities.

We had a great showing of Brother Knights manning our table to include Worthy District Deputy Mark Zaepfel and Field Agent Dave Schallmo. A special thanks to Worthy Advocate Leonard Ngumbah who took photos at the Ministry Fair that are posted to our Council Photo Gallery (located on the left hand pane of the website).

We had meaningful discussions with those who visited our table and am hopeful that the Council will have new Brother Knights joining us in the near future.

Fraternally,

Ryan

Council and State Level Awardees for Fraternal Year 2022-2023

Worthy District Deputy Mark Zaepfel provided his report at the May Council Meeting that included the presentation of VA KofC State Council Award Certificates that were announced at the State Convention Meeting on May 5th - 7th:

Knight of the Year State Finalist - Victor J. Szabo
Family of the Year State Finalist - The Family of Richard Hurney
Young Man of the Year State Finalist - Keegan Kennedy (Son of Brother Robert Kennedy)
Young Woman of the Year State Finalist - Molly McGrogan (Daughter of Brother John McGrogan)

Please keep in mind that over 150 KofC Councils within the State of Virginia had the opportunity to submit candidates for each of these awards. It's quite a remarkable accomplishment that all four of our Council-Level awardees were recognized as State Finalists! Please congratulate each of our Awardees when you have the opportunity to do so!

DD Mark also presented the Council the State Deputy Award for Fraternal Year 2022-2023. The State Deputy Award is the highest award a council can earn at the state level. Each Fraternal Year, the State Deputy sets the requirements (i.e. 25 activities/programs/admin requirements) that must be completed to earn the award. The last time our Council achieved this recognition was Fraternal Year 2016-2017. Rest assured, every Brother Knight made a contribution to receive this level of recognition from providing your time and energy planning/volunteering in ministries to your dues fees being utilized to help provide funding to important ministries. Congratulations to all of you and Well Done!
