Worthy Brother Knights:

A Father’s Day Prayer for Knights, from James C. Fletcher, Jr. Council 11422 and Worthy Grand Knight Peter Methodius-Ngwodo

Good Sunday morning Brothers

This morning we awakened to a day set aside to remember those men in our lives who were our fathers or father figures.  These were men dedicated their lives to the work of loving and nurturing their children.   They were the persons who taught and guided us with the goal of making us better persons.  They spent their days working to feed and support their families.

So let us always keep these men in our prayers, let us thank You Lord for those who still have their fathers with them.  For those of us that no longer have our father here with us let us thank You Lord for taking them home to You Lord as a reward for their love and dedication to their families.

Ephesians 6:4 And, fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Father, God, You have given us so many examples of what a father should be. Be he wise such as Solomon or be he a man of faith like Abraham, he should be loving and forgiving as the father in the Prodigal son.   He should be obedient, nurturing and a provider such as Joseph.  Yes, You have provided us with so many fathers that we should emulate.   I pray to You today for all those fathers here who spend their lives living as those very fathers in the Bible have shown us how we must live.  I pray to You today for those fathers who struggle in their challenge to be a good father.  I thank You today for the father that You blessed me with, while his failures may have been many and his triumphs may have been few, he was the father that You knew I needed to become the person I am today.  I pray to You today for those who are without the guidance and direction of a father, that one day they can grow to be the father they may not have had in their own lives. Yes, Father, God I pray to You for You are the greatest of all fathers.  I thank You for loving, and providing me with Your mercy.  I thank You for being the provider to all of my needs.  I thank You for allowing me to be my best with reward and my worst with forgiveness. I thank You for Your gift of grace, which feeds my soul, awakens my spirit and drives my nature to be more like You. Father; God may I always be worthy of Your love. Amen.

May each of you who are fathers or act as father continue to be a blessing to your families! To each of you who still have or had a father in your lives be blessed by his presence or memory!   May you be the reflection of his love and direction!

Blessings,

Peter Methodius-Ngwodo

Worthy Brothers

Now that the weather is warming the St Joseph Youth Ministry will be hosting a Spring Rosary walk at the Allen Pond Park on Northview Drive in Bowie, MD (see flyer below) on Saturday April 24, 2021 from 12-2PM.  We will be gathering by the lake near the pavilion across from the ice rink.  Please dedicate a couple of hours of your time to spend with our youth in prayer and fellowship while participating in a spiritual event in the park.

** Please bring your Rosary, wear a face mask and we will be enforcing social distancing.  Refreshments will be provided.

** To participate you will need to pre-register via SignUpGenius on the St Joseph's website http://www.stjoseph-largo.org.

This event is open to all, especially high school students and it is ok to bring a friend.  I am hoping that the James C. Fletcher, Jr Knights will have a strong showing in support of our youth.
