ANCASTER HERITAGE DAYS
TO PRESENT LIVE MUSIC AT THE COURT YARD OF THE NEW MEMORIAL ARTS CENTRE ON SATURDAY JUNE 11TH FROM FIVE TO ELEVEN PM.
ANCASTER KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL 10009 will be providing beer, wine, pop and water.
Scott Rastin (wscottrastin@gmail.com 905 978 1562) was approached by Aaron Gerrard (gerrard.a.d@gmail.com 905 928 9321) chairman, Ancaster Heritage Days, requesting the Ancaster Knights to run food (originally) and the bar. The Knights rejected this as we could not do any food. We have run the bar for the 905 Band on two previous Heritage days, but there was no food involvement on part of the Knights.
Scott who in on the Heritage day committee was again approached by Aaron to have the Knights just do the bar with the understanding the Knights take all the profits. Remembering the Knights are a service and all the money we make goes back into our community.
Scott contacted me, Michael Creaghan (michaelcreaghan2@gmail.com 905 304 8665) requesting we just run the bar. He should have contacted Michael Moss our grand knight first, but he knows me well as we have worked together on many previous occasions. I immediately tried to contact Mike Moss and couldn't get him so just left a message. I called a past grand knight, Gregg Husband, who said this is great, let's do it. I made a decision, which I did not have authority to do, called Scott back and said let's go with it. The politics aside, we are pleased to run the bar at this event.
I am in the process of applying for an event liquor permit. It will be under my name on behalf of Ancaster Knights of Columbus. The cost is $150. I have just received the permit and have paid for it.
Hopefully today I will have event insurance for our Knights. We let this lapse a few years ago. Cliff Bowman tried to get insurance through Knight's Supreme but will take too long. If all goes well, we will get event insurance from Stone Ridge Insurance as they are the principle sponsor for Heritage days. (Kelly Campbell 905 648 6767 ext. 252). I have no idea what the price is yet).
New from my discussion with Aaron. If Stone Ridge does not come through, he will put pressure on Ted the owner of Stone Ridge. Remember Stone Ridge is the major sponsor and no insurance no concert. Will look bad for them.
