Drasler, John W. Age 85, was raised in Waukegan, Illinois was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He passed away on April 22nd after a courageous battle with cancer. A friend to many he was preceded in death by his parents Gasper and Helen (Kirn) Drasler, brother Tom and sister-in-law Marie, brother Don and sister-in-law Susan in addition to William and Ann Thomas his in-laws. As a lifelong resident of Waukegan John was proud to be a member of the Waukegan South Side Club. He served two tours of duty in the Korean Conflict as an Army reconnaissance armored personnel operator. He began his employment as a fledgling Architect at the firm of Extrand Shad and West, in Waukegan, working on many schools and municipal projects in the area. He went on to be employed by Freedman and Associates in Chicago, Ottis and Associates in Northbrook and in retirement provided consultation for Ruck Pate Associates. For 9 years John served on the Waukegan Township Board of Education, was a long standing and valued member on the board of directors of the North Shore Trust and Saving, Mother of God Parish Board of Directors and a Proud member of the Knights of Columbus. Most recently John was a Ranger and a Keep pace person at Pine Meadow golf course and avidly created beautiful stain glass designs. Married for 64 years and survived by his beloved wife Pat (Thomas) who survives along with children Greg (Nancy Davidson) Drasler, Cindy Drasler, Cari (John) Vujovich, Connie (Dave) Walbran, beloved grandchildren Alexandra, Peter, Emily, Katelyn, Michael, Adison. |
