KEARNS, James, 91, of Lutz, Florida passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017. He was born in Massachusetts and moved all over during his 33 year career in the United States Navy. For 25 years, James and Donna lived on a boat in Norfolk, VA and James was the owner of the Pirate's Cove Bar. After proudly serving in the military as Lt. Commander, James became a snowbird and after 23 years finally settled into full time Florida life in 2012 where he would often be seen wearing one of his many Navy hats. He enjoyed playing pool, golfing and watching the news. James also loved to travel, cook, and spend time with family and friends.

James is survived by his wife, Donna, together for over 30 years; his former wife and mother of his children, Eleanor; sons, Matthew Kearns and his wife, Teresa, and Jimmy Kearns, and his significant other, Robbie.

Per James' wish to be at sea, his urn will be laid to rest at sea off of a deployed United States Navy ship where military honors will be rendered. A private memorial service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
