Mr. Richard E. "Gene" Owens, 78, of Frederick, died on Monday December 12, 2011, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia A. Owens.
Born on July 11, 1933, in Pelzer, SC, he was the son of the late Garvin and Sarah Harris Owens.
He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Katharine Drexel, Frederick where he was a member of Knights of Columbus.
Also surviving are his children; Deborah Stiteley and husband Douglas of Frederick, David Owens and wife Sandi Fisher of Frederick and Amy Walde and husband Dean of Blue Ridge Summitt, PA. Grandchildren, Heather Arena and husband Thomas, Dylan Fisher and Scott Walde, one niece Ginny Kellett and great nieces, Andrea Lehmann and Beth Stroud. He was preceded in death his sister Eleanor Phillips and her husband Grady.
Visitation will be held on Thursday December 15, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday December 16, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist, 118 East Second Street, Frederick. Father Keith Boisvert will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick |
