LEO H SHERLOCK

 

Leo "Lee" Sherlock A longtime Tucson resident, passed away on January 18, 2012. Lee was born in Chicago on November 14, 1923 to Leo and Helen Sherlock. He served in the Army in World War II. On June 15, 1946, Lee married the love of his life, Mary Warapius in Chicago. Lee and Mary moved to Tucson in 1954. After moving to Northwest Tucson 19 years ago, he became an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years. Lee worked for Tucson Newspaper Inc. from 1954 to 1988 and won numerous statewide awards for his work. In his retirement, Lee continued to paint and at age 80, began to write. He published two novels and over 20 short stories. Lee also delivered meals to the homebound for many years. Lee is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Deacon Francis (Anna) Sherlock, Patricia (Larry) Kiser, Helene Sherlock (Patrick Pollard, deceased), Rosemary Melarkey (Timothy, deceased), Theresa Strizek (Gene, deceased), Joann (Brad) Boyd, Christopher (Sandy) Sherlock, 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. His brother, Basil (Ingrid); his sister, Maryellen (Tim) Reidy and numerous nieces and nephews also survive Lee. . Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 8650 N. Shannon. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.
