Frank W. Rees Long time Tucson resident, Frank W. Rees, was born June 4, 1919 in Utica, New York. Frank grew up in Albany, NY where he graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in June 1937. He served in the United States Calvary and later in the United States Navy during WWII. Frank was united in marriage in New York City to Elizabeth (Bette) G. Miller on Valentines Day 1942. Frank and Bette lived in New York and Rochester where sons Frank and Michael were born. In 1948, the family moved to Texas where Frank joined the General Electric Company. Their daughter, Mary Ellen was born in Corpus Christi, TX. Frank served in various management positions with G.E. in Corpus Christi, Houston, and Oklahoma City. In 1968, he was named the Regional Operations Executive for the 14 state Western Region of the Hotpoint Company (a G.E. subsidiary) headquartered in San Francisco, California. Frank served on the Board of Directors of several Not For Profit organizations and the Board of Rees Associates Inc, an international Architectural Firm. He was bestowed many honors, including Lion of the Year, and awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow by Lions Clubs International. After retiring from his Executive position at G.E., Frank founded many successful businesses; including the Spa Bazaar and Franks Mobil Locksmith in Tucson, Arizona. Later, Frank designed and produced stained glass art which is shown in Art Galleries throughout the Southwest. Frank and Bette moved to Dallas, Texas in 2006 to be closer to their family. Frank passed away on September 19, 2007 and is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth (Bette) M. Rees; children, Frank W. Rees, Jr. and wife Joanie Rees, Michael A. Rees, and daughter, Mary Ellen (Rees) Nutter and husband Terry R. Nutter; grandchildren, Michelle (Rees) Clark and husband Brian M. Clark, Christopher M. E. Rees, Chi Sun Rees, Michael A. Rees, Jr., and W. Lee Nutter; great-granddaughter, Samantha Elizabeth Clark; brother, John A. Rees and sister, Helen (Rees) McLaughlan. Frank was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth G. Rees in 1945. A Memorial Service will be held at: St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9643 Ferndale Rd. Dallas, Texas 75298 on Saturday, September 22, 2007. The family has requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers. |
