Ceferino P. Zarate NORFOLK - Ceferino P. Zarate, also known as Frank, passed away March 28, 2009. He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters from the Philippines. Ceferino was born Sept. 19, 1926. In 1957, he joined the U.S. Navy and retired as a chief storekeeper after 20 years of service. As a retiree, he was actively involved in the Knights of Columbus 3rd/4th Degree Council No. 1162, Fleet Reserve Association Brand No. 060, Veterans of Foreign War No. Post 3160, the Filipino American Veterans of Hampton Roads, St. Pius Filipino-American Veterans Parishioners and the Maharlika Senior Citizens Group. He is survived by his loving wife, Beatriz Aguilar Zarate; son Philip and wife Kathe, son Roy, and daughter Amy and husband Paul; and seven grandchildren, Martin and wife Erin, Ian, Caroline, Brie, Kyle, Dylan and Elias. Ceferino is also survived by many loved relatives and nieces who devoted their love and support. We would like to thank everyone for all your prayers and care (especially the nurses).
