Virginia - Thomas J. East, II passed away on December 12, 2012. He was born in Norfolk on February 20, 1923, to Thomas O. and Mary M. East. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Margaret Bame. Thomas is survived by his wife of 65 years, Laura Cullifer East; and five children, Kathleen Hedrick (Sparland), Thomas J. East, III (Rebecca), Theresa Cox, Lisa McGehee (David), and Linda Mapp (Shawn); eleven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren .Thomas served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. He graduated from Fork Union Military Academy and The College of William and Mary. He was active in his church and numerous fraternal and community organizations. A graveside service will be conducted in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk at 12:00pm Tuesday December 18, 2012 with Rev. Charles Breindel officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Altmeyer Funeral Home, Virginia Beach Chapel. |
