Norfolk - Albert McLloyd Weatherspoon, 88, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2016.
He was born January 31, 1928, in Durham, NC to the late Horace and Sallie Jane Weatherspoon. He lived most of his life in Norfolk, Virginia.
Albert was a member of the United States Coast Guard Merchant Marines during World War II. He was retired from the City of Norfolk Department of Utilities where he worked for 34 years. Albert was a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus Council 367 and Christ the King Catholic Church in Norfolk, Virginia. As an avid collector, he also enjoyed watching the 700 Club, Let's Make A Deal and The Price is Right.
Albert was a loving brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Albert is survived by his three loving daughters, Valerie (John) Richardson of Portsmouth, VA, Deborah (Les) Modlin of Norfolk, VA, and Alma (David) Beck of Stuart, FL; his grandchildren, Kimberly, Karen (Po), Eric (Traci), Zachary (Rebecca), Kristy, Robert, and Dakota; and his great-grandchildren, Jacob, Aiden, Bella, Chancey, Jessalyn, Jordan, Ashlyn, Alexandra, Benjamin, Luke, Kortney, Kaydence, and Douglas. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Ann (Bill) and June and his sister-in-law, Edna.
Albert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Velma; his brothers, Pert and Bobby; daughter, Mary Jo; and granddaughter, Kelsey.
The family will receive friends at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1803 Columbia Ave., Norfolk, VA 23509 on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church sanctuary. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hollomon-Brown, Tidewater Dr. Chapel. Memorial donations may be made in his name to Children's Hospital of the Kings Daughter's or Christ the King Catholic Church, both in Norfolk, VA.
