Elroy J. “Gib†Pampuch, age 89, of Richland Center passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017 at his residence following an illness. He was born in Independence, WI, the son of Lawrence and Mary (Gamroth) Pampuch. Elroy served in the United States Army and was married on September 10, 1955 to the former Connie M. Rebhahn. He played baseball while attending both U.W. La Crosse and U. W. Madison. Elroy was dedicated to Ithaca High School and its students. He coached baseball for 44 years, was Ithaca Athletic Director for 42 years, taught Physical Education for 40 years, coached basketball for 7 years, was football head coach for 4 years, and taught drivers education for many generations. Gib enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing softball for the Knights of Columbus for many years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus where he was a 4th degree Knight. He is survived by 4 children, Mary Pampuch, Dr. Linda (Glenn) Allen, Lor Copperwolf, Amy (Jim) Lichtenberg, a grandson, Zachary Reiter, a brother, Richard (Toni) Pampuch, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mary Pampuch, his wife, Connie Pampuch, a brother, Alfred Pampuch, a sister, Modesta Stendahl, and a nephew, Pat Stendahl. |
