Freddie Tegel, age 89 of Waukegan, Il died Sunday May 29th, 2016 at Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan. He was born February 28, 1927 in Waukegan and resided there his entire life.
He was a Lieutenant on the Waukegan Fire Department and retired after 28 and 1/2 years of service. Past member of Mother of God Church and Queen of Peace and attended St. Anastasia. He was a member of North East Illinois Retired Firefighters Association, SNPJ (Slovenic National Home) and Loyal Order of the Moose. He graduated from Waukegan High school. And was a Private in the United States Army, 304th Sig. Operation Bn.in Japan from May 7, 1945 with Honorable Discharge on December 15, 1945.
Freddie is survived by his son Don (Julie) Meadie and grandson Patrick Meadie. And a special thanks to his care givers, Lukasz, Pawel and Adam who provided exceptional care for him during his illness.
He was preceded in death by his wife Frances in 2003, brother Stan and his parents. |
