ALBERT J. LEDET SR.

 

Albert J. Ledet Sr. “Al” of Wadsworth, Illinois died on Sunday, November 19, 2006 at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Al was born November 25, 1944 in Crowley, Louisiana. He was the youngest child of Curley and Mildred Ledet.

Al received his B.A. degree in Marketing from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. and his Masters Degree in Marketing from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. He was a Vietnam Veteran in the United States Army, and a production planner at Abbott Laboratories for 33 years where he retired in 2003. Active in the community, he was a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus Council 731, on the Board of Trustee of Catholic Charities in Waukegan, Fundraiser chairperson for the Black Catholics of Lake County, and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Waukegan where he served as a Parish Council member, Eucharist Minister, lecturer and religious education instructor.

Survivors include: Eva (nee Thomas) Ledet, a loving wife of 35 years; his wonderful children, Chelsia (Milton) Collins of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Albert (Tracie) Ledet, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona. Grandchildren: Alexis and Milton Jalen Collins. Siblings include: Laura (Oliver) Newell of South Haven, MS., Eva (Huey) Hollins of New Orleans, LA., and Wilbert (Rose) Ledet of Washington, LA. Other survivors include: his loving goddaughter, Yvonne Randle, Aunt Lillian Bates, Uncle John Ledet, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, as well as, the Black Catholics of Lake County.
