Will J. Stewart of Beach Park, IL. made his transition on March 11, 2008. He was the eldest child of David and Thelma Stewart.
He graduated from Clark College in Atlanta. It was there that he met Martha, his wife of 45 years. Upon graduation from college, he began his career in the military in 1961 serving 6 years in the Air Force as a staff sergeant stationed in California, Germany and Texas. After ending his military career, he embarked on a career in purchasing with Johnson & Johnson. In 1974 , he accepted a position with Abbott Laboratories where he broadened his purchasing role to encompass minority business development. He received many awards in this area and served as a mentor to many at Abbott. He retired from Abbott in 2005 after 31 years of service.
Survivors include: Martha, his loving wife of 45 years, his mother Thelma, his children, grandchildren, four brothers, and many more family and friends. He was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church for over 25 years. Will was also active in numerous community and civic organizations. He was a charter member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Kappa Chi Lambda Chapter, a member of the Waukegan Knights of Columbus Council 731, and a member of the Little Fort Elks Lodge #1359. He was a devoted husband and father and an avid golfer. |
