Lewis G. Van Vliet age 82 of Richland Center passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016 at the U.W. Hospital in Madison following a brief illness. He was born on February 12, 1934 in Cayuga, New York the son of Leigh and Verna (Randall) Van Vliet. Lewis was married on August 19, 1961 to the former Coralie Lenzner. He was a member of St. Mary the Assumption Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Hill Country Classic Power Club. Lewis retired from Southwest Technical School and enjoyed bowling on many leagues, teaching, traveling, attending tractor shows and was currently on the Richland County Board and a volunteer at St. Mary’s Catholic School. He loved helping people and spending time with his grandchildren and family. Survivors include his wife, Coralie Van Vliet of Richland Center, 2 daughters, Kristine (John) Lupton of Virginia, Maria Schauf of Spring Green, 5 grandchildren, Katelyn (Page) Lipscomb, Alyssa (Tommy) Breternitz, Cody Schauf, Allison Frank, Jenna Schauf, a great granddaughter, Ella Breternitz, a brother-in-law, Jack (Mary Ann) Lenzner of Wausau, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leigh and Verna Van Vliet and a sister, Karen Allen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary the Assumption Catholic Church in Richland Center. Monsignor Roger Scheckel will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Stafford Funeral Home in Richland Center from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. where a parish scripture service will be held at 3:30 P.M. Visitation will also be held on Saturday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Mary the Assumption Catholic Church or the St. Mary’s Catholic School Endowment Fund. |
