In Memoriam to Sir Knight William E Berman.
William E. Berman, 88, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, died Thursday, September 17, 2015, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire with his family at his side.
Bill was born January 30, 1927, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, the son of William and Marie (Kammel) Berman. He married Margaret M. Heller on January 30, 1947, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Eau Claire.
Bill drove truck for Briggs for 35 years and later worked at First Wisconsin Bank. He drove for several years for Western Dairyland driving people to their appointments. He was a volunteer fireman for Seymour Township for 30 years, volunteered at St. Francis Food Pantry and various other charities.
Bill was a member of St. Olaf Catholic Parish and also a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus John F. Kennedy Council where he was a member of the 4th Degree. Bill was also a longtime member of the Eau Claire Moose Lodge 1408 where he had earned a Pilgrim Degree.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Margaret; a son, William R. Berman of Mareno, Arizona; two daughters, Patricia (Jerry) Sidley of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and Jean (Donald) Rumphol of Eau Claire; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Don (Mary) Berman and Phillip (Hattie) Berman; a sister, Joyce Glenna; and a sister-in-law, Rosemary Freehling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Barbara Jean; stepfather; four brothers, Dickie, Herb, Jim, and David; and a granddaughter, Barbara Ann.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015, at St. Olaf Catholic Church in Eau Claire with Father Paul Hoffman Celebrating the Mass. Burial will be private at a later date in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass, Saturday, at the church. There will be Moose Rites held Saturday at 9:45 a.m. at the church.
