SK REV CLARENCE JOSEPH HOWARD

 

Father Clarence Joseph Howard, 80, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Norton's Brownsboro Hospital.

Fr. Howard was born June 6, 1935 in Howardstown, KY, to the late Arthur Francis and Nellie Hagan Howard. He was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest on May 27, 1961, with 52 years of service to the Archdiocese of Louisville. His assignments included St. Benedict and St. Raphael Churches in Louisville, St. Bernard Church, Clementsville, KY, The Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral, Bardstown, and St. Catherine Church, New Haven, KY, where he retired. Fr. Howard was presently a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Prospect, KY.

He was a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. McGee Assembly #309 in Bardstown and served as the Chaplain of Bardstown KofC Council #1290 for several years.

He is survived by two sisters, LaNell (Frank) Caspar, Lexington, KY and Rosita (Russell) Raque, Louisville; one brother, Dr. Lawrence "Larry" Howard, with whom he made his home with in Louisville; one nephew, Mike Caspar; four nieces, Ann Manning, Pam Freeman, Brenda Carroll, and Julie Adams, along with 12 great-nieces and nephews and several cousins.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2015 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 6500 St. Bernadette Ave., Prospect, KY with visitation from 9 a.m. until time of service on Monday.

Burial will be 3:30 p.m., Monday in St. Catherine Cemetery, New Haven, KY.
