Frank X. Hisgen, Born in Philadelphia, PA in times of adversity. His lessons in life made him a survivor and one to make the best of life's circumstances. Through a series of circumstances and joining the Army in Texas he came to be in Oregon where he met the love of his life, Leona Rose Arthur.
They were married October 15, 1955 in Salem, OR and went to live in Eugene OR where Frank worked for US Plywood and his family of 6 was started. They moved to Albany, Oregon in 1961. There Frank started work for the Northwest Natural Gas Company and retired in 1992. He was active at St. Mary's Catholic Church, involved with the Knights of Columbus for 35 years and helped in many endeavors. Frank lived out his faith whether in Salem attending St. Vincent De Paul or as a snow bird in Arizona. He was passionate about living his faith out. The other organizations that Frank was a part of were American Legion, Elks and Eagles.
Frank is survived by his wife of 59 years, Leona R Hisgen and had 4 children. Cathy(Rod) Adair, Larry Hisgen (Debbie Guzman) , David Hisgen(Emma) , Teresa Hisgen (John Adkins), 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. He enjoyed camping, fishing and being a snowbird in Arizona. A few cruises were a part of the retirement years; he had one more on the agenda for his wife of 60 years in October.
Preceded in death are his mother Mildred V. Durkin and one grandson.
A rosary will be held on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 10:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albany. Inurnment will be at Willamette Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to Howell, Edwards, Doerksen Funeral Home. |
