COUNCIL #10943 - ROBERT R. LEROUX REMEMBERS
ALBERT EDOUARD OUELLETTE

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Albert Edouard Ouellette of Penacook following a long illness. Albert was born on June 29, 1946, the son of the late Edouard and Yvonne (Gaudet) Ouellette of Manchester, where he spent his youth.

Although Albert was born with cerebral palsy, he had a full and vibrant life, having graduated from Bishop Bradley High School in 1965. He attended St. Anselm College and UNH, where he graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Social Work degree. Following his college experience, he worked for Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center and as Director of Religious Education for the four Catholic churches in Berlin, before being employed for the State of New Hampshire as a rehabilitation counselor, then as supervisor of the Concord Regional Office. He was a Rehabilitation Specialist for the Department of Education until his retirement in 2009. During his tenure as a state employee, Albert earned a Master of Education degree in Rehabilitation Administration.

Albert especially enjoyed traveling. Any opportunity he had to drive, fly, or take a train to somewhere new he accepted with great enthusiasm. He never allowed his physical limitations to define him and he never allowed himself any kind of self-pity. In fact, part of his life's story was featured in the Monitor 25 years ago, when he was invited to watch the movie, My Left Foot, and to comment on it. He also loved spending time at the beach, visiting his many friends, reading, and movies. Albert reveled in living life to the fullest and encouraged others to do the same.

Albert was devoted to the church. With his wife, he began a Scripture Study program at St. John the Evangelist Parish and together they were also a leader couple for 15 years for the parish's marriage preparation program. At his current parish of St. Joseph in Belmont. Albert participated in several Scripture Study groups both as a participant and as a leader. He was a Third Degree Knight in the Robert Leroux chapter of the Knights of Columbus. Albert was also a Friend of St. Francis of Assisi in Manchester.

Albert's positive outlook, his wide smile and his infectious laugh will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

He leaves his wife and soulmate of more than 29 years, Cynthia D. (Glover) Ouellette of Penacook; his beloved daughter, Aimee Elizabeth Ouellette and her fiancé, Jacob Knight, both of Penacook; a brother, Paul Ouellette and his wife, Noel of San Diego; a sister, Pauline Cordray and her husband, William of Salt Lake City; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and numerous friends.
