Gary A. Spanovich
Gary Alan Spanovich, a man of peace, faith, love, and courage, passed away enroute to Ore. He had just completed a fulfilling trip to Oahu where he led a meditation retreat with Nancy and presented the Heart of Gold Award to a colleague from Kaneohe Oahu. Gary and his wife Nancy cherished Hawaii and India. His local government friendships were vital due to his expertise in transportation planning (1970-2001) and employment at METRO and Clackamas County. Founder of the Wholistic Peace Institute (2001), he served as Chairman since 2015, public speaking or editing manuscripts of Peace Building from Nobel Peace Laureates and other world leaders (2001-2025). Gary was a member of Resurrection Catholic Parish and active with Our Lady of the Lake, he was a Knights of Columbus member, an oblate at Mt. Angel Abbey, and Rotarian. Gary excelled creating peace with diverse faith communities and educational institutions in Oregon. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Olmsted Spanovich; his two stepchildren, Caryn Elizabeth and John Bayard; and his son, Christopher Michael Spanovich. 12/08/1948 - 03/20/2025 To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store. |
