ROBERT (BOB) K VOSKUHL

 

Robert Keith Voskuhl, born on January 27, 1940, in Baraga, MI, passed away on October 7, 2024, in Norfolk, VA. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who dedicated his life to his family, friends, and community.

Robert, affectionately known as Bob, was a kind soul with a strong Catholic faith. He spent nearly 60 years sharing his life with his beloved wife, Diane P. LaVerdiere Voskuhl, who preceded him in death. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home filled with love, often enjoying the simple pleasure of watching the children play across the street. Known for their hospitality, they hosted memorable winter gatherings featuring hot cider and homemade cookies, as well as weekly puzzle night get to togethers, leaving a lasting impression on their neighbors.

A veteran of both the Army and Navy, Roberts served as an Army Medica and then in the Naval Medical Corps. He later worked as a cardiac OR technician at Sentara Norfolk General. After retiring, he continued to give back to his community by volunteering at St. Pius X School, where he spent many years in the computer lab, inspiring students with his knowledge and kindness. Additionally, he was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, Norfolk Council 367, The First Council in the South for 65 years.

Robert is survived by his two daughters, Lisa and Heather; a granddaughter, Gabrielle; two grandsons, William and Nicholas; and a great-grandson. He leaves behind two brothers, James F. and Frederick (Jennifer), and two sisters, Ursula D. Vankuiken (Thomas) and Debora A. Bound. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary H. and Henry L. Voskuhl, as well as three brothers, Henry E. (Ruth), John L. (Edith), Walter C., and one sister, Helen M. Ramp (Earl).

Robert will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and his cherished cat, Jenny. His legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to faith will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:00 Am on Saturday, November 2, at St Pius X Catholic Church.
