Malcolm Bellafronto Jr.
October 23, 1942 - July 15, 2024
ALBANY, OR - Mal Bellafronto - Navy veteran, businessman, father, grandfather, husband, partner and friend - died peacefully on July 15, 2024. Mal was born on October 23, 1942, to Malcolm and Judy Bellafronto in Meriden, CT. Mal loved competition and sports, which led him to play football at the U.S. Naval Academy. While at the Naval Academy, Mal's football career was cut short after an epic boxing match that earned the respect of his classmates. In 1964, Mal married his high school sweetheart, Margaret ("Maggie") Bellafronto (1942-2009.) He graduated with an engineering degree, and served in the Vietnam War. Malcolm Bellafronto, III was born in Japan while Mal was in Vietnam. Their second son, Eric, was born in the Presidio in San Francisco, upon Mal and Maggie's return to the states. After leaving the Navy, Mal embarked on a career in the paper industry, where he rose through the ranks to become a respected executive. His job took the family to Pennsylvania, Washington, California, Wisconsin, and Oregon. Mal's greatest love was his family. Mal's life was "complete" when he became "Papa" to his grandchildren, Brady, Nicholas, Emma and Mia Bellafronto. He was an amazing Papa, who loved every grandfather-moment from running on the beach to napping on the sofa with them. Mal's beloved wife Maggie died in 2009. Mal met his second love, Mary Eusterman of Albany, OR, in 2010. Mal and Mary spent the next 14 years traveling, playing pickleball, and laughing every night. When Parkinson's attacked Mal's physical and mental health, Mary was there everyday to support him with compassion, laughter and love until the end. Mal is survived by Mary Eusterman; his sons, Malcolm and Eric; his daughters-in-law, Mary Olsen and Maria Bellafronto; his four grandchildren, and his brother, Robert Bellafronto. Donations in his honor may be made to the Synapse Fitness Foundation, Box 1235, Albany, OR 97321 in support of Parkinson's disease. The funeral will be held on July 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Mary's Church in Albany, OR.
