William “Bill†Broderick, 80, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, a loving husband and father of four, passed away peacefully on February 28 surrounded by his family. Bill was born February 17, 1942, to William and Helen Broderick in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He graduated from Villanova University in 1963 with a degree in electrical engineering and began a long career at the General Electric Corporation, where he worked for more than 40 years. As a GE employee, he relocated to Roanoke, Virginia, where he raised four children, Anastasia (“Staceyâ€), Greg, Tim and Amy. Bill was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Bill lived a life of service, dedicating his time to many charitable endeavors and cherished his time in the Catholic church communities he became a part of throughout his life.
A diehard Philadelphia sports fan, he enjoyed every opportunity he had time to watch his teams play. He was a loyal and devoted friend who was always available to help someone in need and prided himself on making guests in his home comfortable and wanting for nothing. Bill’s greatest love was his family. He wanted nothing more than to have the whole family together and left a full life in Roanoke during retirement to move to Virginia Beach to be closer to family. Seeing some of his grandchildren on a daily basis was one of his greatest joys during his latter years. All those who knew him will miss his wicked sense of humor, unconditional love and the look of satisfaction on his face when he opened a new jar of relish or jam.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents William and Helen, and is survived by his wife Patricia Broderick, his sister Mary Ann Broderick, his four children, Anastasia Richman, Greg Broderick, Tim Broderick and Amy Broderick, his son-in-law Todd Richman, his daughter-in-law Michelle Broderick, and his grandchildren Erin, Shane, Theo and Dylan.
