Andrew Joseph Femiano, of Virginia Beach, born to Pasquale and Annunziata Femiano on September 28, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, entered Eternal Life on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of 62 years to his wife, Vita, and devoted and loving father of Andy, Michael (Karen), Stephen, Renee, Angela (Chuck). Andy embraced the role of grandfather and thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren, Kara (Brian), Jason, Andrew, Jacqueline (Dustin), Micaela (Aaron), Anthony, Nicholas, Angela, Theresa, Elizabeth (Jari), Matthew, Joseph, Mary Grace and Regina, and his great-grandchildren, Maria, Isabella, Kairi, Alexander and Charles. Andy is also survived by his brothers, Dominic and Tony (Jean), sister, Mary and sister-in-law, Marianne.
Born of immigrant parents from Italy, Andy was very proud of his Italian heritage. Knowing where his family "came from" and the traditions and customs that he grew up with helped shape the man he became.
As proud of his Italian heritage that he was, he was even more proud to be a First Generation American. Andy served in the U.S. Navy and was a Korean War Vet. After his service in the Navy, Andy followed in his father's footsteps and became a stone mason. They worked side by side together in their own business, Femiano and Son. After his father retired, Andy started his own business, Artistic Stone Company; and he truly was an artist! Later, he worked in general contracting in the construction industry as a successful owner and operator for many years. Once he retired, being the hard worker that he was, he helped with his daughter and son in law's business, offering his wisdom, guidance and experience and of course, good humor.
Andy was a longtime parishioner at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church where he was as a Greeter for many years and volunteered with the "Sandwich Brigade", happy to serve the church, as God and family were above all, most important. As a 3rd Degree Brother with the Knights of Columbus, he was always happy to hand out Tootsie Rolls for KOVAR.
