Richard Henry â€Dick†Esau (Col, USMC, Ret.), age 83, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away on October 21, 2017. Beloved husband of over 31 years to Naomi L. (Bodkin) Esau. Loving father of Joan E. Katz (Howard), Frances M. Sekely (Bernard), Thomas R. Esau (Brigitte), Toni Ann Koren (David), and Megan L. Esau. Cherished grandfather of 10 and great grandfather of 5. Richard was predeceased by his son James M. Esau, his former spouse Beatrice Ann (Granger) Esau, siblings, Rita Reid, Anthony Esau and John Esau. His Daughter-In-Law Connie still survives.
Richard served our country proudly in the United States Marine Corps for over 28 years. He was a highly decorated Colonel; having served during the Vietnam War. He was a former Human Resource Director for the Turner Construction Company. He then served as the National Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, and later became the Executive Director of the National Military Order of the Purple Heart Service Foundation.
