COUNCIL #1577 - ALBANY REMEMBERS
JOSEPH MARCUM

Dearest Friends and Family, it is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of our Dad, Joseph Stanley Marcum.

Joe was born in Salem, OR, February 12, 1943, and passed away in Wenatchee, WA, on July 13, 2023, after a long-time battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was raised on a farm in Jefferson, OR, by Leonard and Eileen Marcum. He was the youngest of 3 boys, his older siblings being Jerry and Darrell. Growing up in Jefferson, Joe was active in sports and FFA.

Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kay, just seven months prior. We believe that Dad's passing the day before Mom's birthday was not a coincidence, and it brings a smile to our faces knowing they were together again on her special day. He was the father of Tina (Gary) Miles of Vancouver, WA, Cindy Marcum of Wenatchee, WA, Stephanie Marcum (John Gereighty) of East Wenatchee, WA, and Tammy Marcum who preceded him in death. He loved keeping up with his grandkids: Taylor, Laney, Amber, Sammy, Grady, Carson and Cooper, finding great joy in their adventures in life. Joe worked for many years at Albany Paper Mill/Willamette Industries/Weyerhaeuser. He began on the yard crew, then as a pipefitter, and worked his way to Assistant Maintenance Superintendent. In retirement, Joe and Kay enjoyed traveling and antiquing. A two-time cancer survivor...a man in a house of all girls...the one who was always there to tell us the bottom line...the smartest man we knew...what a memory he had!...and a sense of humor...lover of vanilla milkshakes...and chocolate...lots of chocolate!

We would love for you all to join us in a joint Celebration of Life for Joe and Kay. It will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, November 3, 2023, at St. Mary's Church in Albany, OR, where they were long-time members. Correspondence can be sent: c/o Stephanie Marcum 2334 Combine St. East Wenatchee, WA, 98802.
