James G. Ellison Sr. of South Elgin A funeral Mass for James G. Ellison Sr., 70, formerly of Oakwood Hills in Cary, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Streamwood. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, and from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass Tuesday, at the church. Born Nov. 2, 1934, in Evanston, the son of Harold and Emma (nee Broisus) Ellison, he passed away Friday, April 8, 2005, at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. James was an airman first class in the Air Force. He was employed by Terra Cotta Truck Service in Crystal Lake as a truck driver and dispatcher before retiring. He was a member of American Legion in Algonquin, the Teamsters Union #301, the Knights of Columbus and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Streamwood, where he served as an usher. Survivors include his wife, Diane Lynn Ellison, whom he married April 5, 1997; children, Kim (Doug) Skrzypinski, Laura Cram, Jimmy Ellison Jr., Kathleen (Clint) Adkins, Rachel (Mark) Ayuol and Rick (Connie) LeDonne; 15 grandchildren; and one brother and one sister. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy; a granddaughter; and one brother and two sisters.
