Raymond North Obituary North, Raymond Platt Age 88, was born July 2, 1923 in New Britain, CT and passed away Nov. 17, 2011. A memorial mass will be held at a later date at Holy Family Church, Inverness. Ray was in the Navy V5 program and became a pilot. He served as a flight instructor at Corpus Christi, TX. Ray attended Springfield College in Springfield, MA and received his degree in education and then earned his masters degree in administration at New York University. He taught in Ellenville, NY, Batavia, IL and was then hired as principal/ superintendent at Rosemont, IL school district where he served for 18 years. After retirement, Ray substituted in District 211 for many years. He was active in the Rosemont Lions Club and chaired their scholarship program. Ray was also a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus at Holy Family Church in Inverness. Survived by his wife, Elizabeth Kontney "Betty" North; two children Gail Spark of Clearwater, FL and John (Dawn) North of LasVegas, NV; grandchildren Matt, Kathy, Angela and Melissa. Also survived by stepsons Christopher (Nancy) Kontney and Jack (Bev) Kontney, stepdaughters Kathryn (Chuck Chrastka) Kontney, Jan Smith and Paula (John) Connor; seven stepgrandchildren and five step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Margaret North, stepfather Matt Price, brother Bill (Connie) North and his son Charles North.
