Thomas Francis Martino Jr., age 73 of Green Township, NJ passed away at his home peacefully surrounded by his loving family Saturday, May 27, 2023. Tom was born on December 20, 1949 in Plainfield, NJ to the late Thomas and Mary (nee Terrible) Martino. Tom grew up in Plainfield and then settled in Green Township in 1986, where he raised his family.
Tom earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Information Management from Centenary College. He had a long career with Warner-Lambert Morris Plains, NJ for 27 years before retiring as a Director in 2002.
A devout parishioner of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Newton, Tom had served many years as an usher for the 8 AM Mass. An active Member of Knights of Columbus, Tom also volunteered with their food stand at the Sussex County Farm and Horse show for many years.
Tom enjoyed being a volunteer with BARKS Animal rescue, eventually adopting their cherished and loyal dog, Lady. Tom was a loyal supporter of Veterans and a dedicated contributor to Wounded Warriors Project.
Tom was a talented Golfer and enjoyed his many years as a member of the Newton Country Club as well as playing with his many friends all over the world. He was also a skilled Bowler enjoying many years playing in several Bowling leagues. In addition, Tom also enjoyed shooting his guns, coaching/playing baseball and softball, as well as being a staunch and lifelong fan of the Boston Red Socks.
Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 39 years Patti (nee Doherty) Martino, his “#1 Sonâ€- Thomas Martino III and wife Jackie Stillwater, NJ and his “favorite daughter†– Michelle Cahill and husband Rob Green Township, NJ. Also surviving are his 1st grandson-to-be Cameron Thomas Cahill, his sister Patricia Martino and husband Rob Barnegat, NJ, his father-in-law Ed Doherty Morris Plains, NJ, and many other beloved family and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday June 1, 2023 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main Street (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ 07860. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday June 2, 2023 at 10 AM at Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, #24 Halsted Street Newton, NJ. Entombment will immediately follow in the Saint Joseph RC Church Mausoleum Newton, NJ.
