On Monday, March 27, 2023, Edward Dwyer, of Silver Spring, MD, passed away at age 74. Beloved husband of fifty years to Connie Dwyer; devoted father of Edward Dwyer (Tara); cherished grandfather of Jack Edward and Dillon Ray. Loving brother of Dorothy Dwyer, Diane Donahue (Bernie), Debra Ruggeri (Dennis), and Robert Dwyer. Dear brother-in-law of Santina Hines, Matthew D'Antuono (Carol Ann), Michael D'Antuono (Beryl), Cecilia Balderston (Stephen), and Carmela Groves (Gerald). Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Born in Washington, DC and a long-time resident of Silver Spring, Ed served in the Marine Corps, graduated from the University of Maryland and then worked as an Education Specialist for the Department of Education. After he retired, he worked at Sligo Creek Golf Course for many years. Ed was a true people person, beach lover, sports enthusiast at all levels, dedicated Redskins’, Nationals’, and Maryland fan, and proud “Pop-Pop†and “Uncle Eddieâ€!
Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home 2pm to 4pm on Tuesday, April 4th. On Wednesday, April 5th, Visitation at St. John the Evangelist Church,10103 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD, from 10:30am to 11:30. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:30am. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Thursday, April 6th at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society by visiting donate.cancer.org. |
