Geoffrey Joseph Crann, 80, formerly of Fredon, Township, NJ, died Saturday, March 18, 2023, under the care of Stella Maris in Timonium, MD. Geoffrey was born in Newark, NJ on December 3, 1942, and was a longtime resident of New Jersey. Geoffrey proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years, with an additional 4 years traveling the world in the Merchant Marines after discharge. Since then, he has been a lifetime member of the American Legion. After the Service, he then became a Truck Driver and retired from Leaseway Auto Carriers after 30+ years of driving. He had many fond memories of the friends he worked with out of Port Newark, NJ, where he transported cars across the country and he was a proud member of the Teamsters.
Geoffrey was a longtime member of St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton, NJ and was a lifetime member of the Don Bosco Council of the Knights of Columbus. He was a Past Grand Knight and also a member of the 4th degree. Among the countless hours of volunteer service, he especially enjoyed manning the grill with his fellow Knights at their food stand at the Sussex County Farm and Horse Show every year. He was also a former member of the Fredon Fire Department in his younger days.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Geoffrey. He loved gardening, took pride in his fruit trees and flowers, and farming worms to make 'worm poop' fertilizer. He also enjoyed collecting rocks, polishing fossilized dinosaur poop into jewelry, and making earrings out of his favorite stone - opal. All of this he passionately shared with his family and friends. He was also an avid card player where he occasionally won when he wasn't cheating. He also enjoyed taking long walks with his dogs at St. Paul's Abbey and Fredon Park.
Geoffrey was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Milton Crann and Olivia Almeida Crann; and his brother, Joseph Crann. He is survived by his beloved wife, Louise Crann; his son, Christopher Crann; his daughter-in-law, Thao Crann; his granddaughter, Rachel Crann; his sister, Olivia Hrasdzira; his sister-in-law, Debi Crann; and many nieces and nephews.
