DEACON RICHARD E. ZIETLOW June 14, 1947 - July 9, 2015
Deacon Richard E. Zietlow, age 68, of Plover, WI died unexpectedly of natural causes on Thursday, July 9, 2015 while doing what he loved, ministering to the youth while on Adventure Camp in Drummond, WI.
He was born June 14, 1947 in La Crosse, WI. He is the son of the late Edwin & Leona (Wuensch) Zietlow.
He was a US Navy veteran, serving from 1966 to 1970, and served on the USS Vernon County.
He was married to Yvonne “Bonnie†Wuensch on Nov. 14, 1970 at St. Joseph Ridge Catholic Church in La Crosse County, she survives.
He was ordained a Catholic Deacon on Oct. 16, 2010 at St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral in La Crosse, WI.
He is a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Bronislava Council #13880.
He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, NASCAR, wood working and spending time with his family. He especially loved being a Deacon and being involved ministering to the young and the sick.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in his name will be established at a later date.
Survivors include his wife: Yvonne “Bonnieâ€, three daughters: Melissa “Missy†(John) Caulum of West Salem, Rebecca “Becky†(Stephen) Zblewski of Amherst Junction & Sara (Aaron) Smith of Plover. Six grandchildren: Carissa, Zachary, Nathan, Ryan, Eli & Ella.
Two brothers: Deacon Bob (Judy) Zietlow and Joe (Kathy) Zietlow both from Onalaska. Five sisters: Donna (Dennis) Weigel of Elkhart, IN, Paula (David) Hilby of Coon Valley, Barb (Dick) Konrad of Onalaska, Karla (Tim) Weihrouch of Onalaska & Geri Zietlow of La Crosse. Preceded in death by 1 brother, Edgar.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Monday, July 13, 2015 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church at 3200 Plover Road in Plover with visitation from 9:00 AM until the time of services. The Most Reverend William P. Callahan will be the main celebrant. The Reverend James Trempe will be the homilist. Burial will take place in the Parish cemetery. Visitation will also be from 4 to 8 PM Sunday at St. Maximilian-Kolby Catholic Church at 8611 State Road 54 in Almond with a rosary being prayed at 5:00 PM.
