Passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant hospital, Burlington, on September 23, 2022.
Sam leaves behind his wife Timeena of 60 years, his son Alan, and granddaughters Amy, Alicia and Alaina and her son Christian. Predeceased by his father Amadeo (1944), his mother Antonietta (2006), step-father Lorenzo Ignagni (1976), half-brother Dino (2004) and grandson Alexander (1996).
Sam was born in Ceprano, Italy, and emigrated to Canada with his family in 1952. Learning a new language at 13 was a challenge but Sam was determined to fit in with his peers. After high school, he completed a four-year apprenticeship with the CNR as a diesel mechanic and was promoted to various supervisory positions over the years. He met his wife Timeena and they were married in 1962. Sam joined Ford Motor Company in Oakville in 1969 and over the next thirty years gained expertise and promotions, ending as Quality Assurance Manager.
During the 1970s and 80s, go-kart racing provided the opportunity for Sam as pit crew and Alan as driver to win many prestigious races in both Canada and the U.S.A. Sam loved cars, especially Mustangs of which he owned many. He was known for his ability to fix anything mechanical.
As a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, Sam volunteered many hours to various charitable events. In retirement, he especially enjoyed his time with members of the Special Olympics of Ontario, Burlington Chapter.
