On Wednesday, January 27, 2021, Joseph Edward Kovach, Jr. passed away quietly after a prolonged battle with acute myeloid leukemia and covid-19. Joe is survived by his wife of 44 years. Mary Frances (Fran); son, Matthew (Emily Walters); sister, Emilie (Richard Tomichek); brother, Anthony Kovach; brothers-in-law, Barry Leshinsky (Susan), David Leshinsky, and Bob Leshinsky (Toni), along with many nieces and nephews. Joe graduated from Laurel Highlands High School in Uniontown, PA., Salem College in Salem, WV and West Virginia University with a MS in Industrial Relations. He loved his job as a Human Resources Professional. He wrote hundreds of cover letters and resumes for others. He had been employed by Sverdrup Technologies, Morton Thiokol, Boeing, Pentastar Electronics, and Dayton Thermal Products. He was retired from Daimler Chrysler. He was a long-time member of the Personnel Accreditation Institute and was accredited in many HR areas. Joe was a member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Madison, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the National Council of Corvette Clubs and Valley Vettes. Joe shared his time and talents with family, neighbors, and friends. He could repair anything. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and never missed a game. He was a corvette enthusiast. He had rebuilt a silver anniversary corvette and never looked back. He loved the ride-alongs planned by Valley Vettes. Joe loved politics and participated in many heated debates. He was also an avid gardener. His back yard was his domain. He loved sharing plants and advice. Joe was a kind and devoted family man. If you were his friend, you were part of his family. Joe had a generous spirit and helped everyone in need. His favorite thing was a Southern sunset with the pink sky. So, if you see a beautiful sunset, think of Joe. He would just say, “Wow, look at that. It can’t get any prettier than that.†Due to Covid, services will be set at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church at a later date. |
