In memoriam to our departed Brother Sir Knight Michael Prock


Michael Joseph Prock, age 88, of Eau Claire, WI passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire.

He was born Nov. 25, 1925, in Merrill, WI to Martin and Catherine (Hubley) Prock.

Michael married Lorraine Knutson on Jan. 16, 1947 in Eau Claire, WI, and celebrated 66 years of marriage.

In 1947, Michael along with his father and brother John started Prock & Sons Funeral Home and Ambulance Service, serving the Eau Claire area for 45 years, retiring in 1992.

Michael was very active in his community and was a fourth degree Knights of Columbus. He also served as chairman of the finance committee for Immaculate Conception and later was director of finance for the Diocese of La Crosse.

Mike traveled the world with his wife, Lorraine and good friends, Dave and Jean Mickelson as well as Pat and the late Russ Johnson. Mike and Lorraine took great pleasure in visiting and supporting the children at Lac Courte Oreilles Mission School.

Michael will be greatly missed by his seven sons, Michael (Songkum), of Seoul, Korea, Steven (Gail) of Chippewa Falls, WI, Patrick (Allana) of Eau Claire, WI, John (Kathleen) of Eau Claire, WI, Jeffery (Sue Ogden) of Eau Claire, WI, David (Linda) of Fall Creek, WI and James (Linda) of Chippewa Falls, WI. He also leaves behind 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Mary) Prock of Asheville NC; as well as several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Catherine Prock; his wife, Lorraine; three great-grandchildren, Lane, Riley and Karsen Prock; sister, Virginia Irmiter; and an infant sister, Catherine.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Church in Eau Claire, with the Reverend George Thayikuzhithottu of Sacred Heart-St. Patrick's officiating. There will be visitation at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be immediately following at Calvary Cemetery in Eau Claire. Olson Funeral Home of Menomonie is serving the family.
