Robert Lee Gomer, age 75, of Fredericksburg, VA passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022 at the Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on May 28, 1947, in Meyersdale, PA the son of the late Lewis F. Gomer Sr. and Ruby (Fate) Gomer. He retired as a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam War veteran He was a volunteer firefighter in Fredericksburg and Wellersburg, Pennsylvania.
He will be remembered by family and friends as a charismatic, funny, and kind soul who put others first and was always smiling. He loved his family more than anything and was a devoted husband, father, brother, and uncle. He was married to the love of his life, Carla, and they recently celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his loving wife, Carla Jean Gomer; two children, Stacey Nicole Gomer of Mechanicsville, VA and Matthew Lee Gomer of Fredericksburg, VA; one sister, Janice Diane Getson of Rawlings, MD; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 2:30pm Friday, July 22, 2022, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church. Interment is at Richland Cemetery, 1257 Scalp Ave., Johnstown, PA.
